Fabulous Furry Friday presents An Embarrassment of Pandas

I don’t know if it is true or not, but I have read that the collective noun for pandas is an embarrassment of pandas. If it’s not, it definitely should be. I mean have you ever watched them eat? While I work back here behind the scenes to formulate my response to the vile maligning of pandas on Foxxy “News,” I thought I would share some ‘toons of the archives of…um…Pandas Being Embarrassed!

I don’t know if this link will actually work or not, but here is Stephen Colbert taking about this segment on Foxxy “News”

First on the list, of course, since it is time for our annual salute to the Nixon Pandas, is this one:

I am only making some of this up.

Thanks guys! No, really.

Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?

You would think that Pinky would have figured out how to avoid Mommee Mei’s resolutions lists by now, but you would be mistaken. Fortunately, all she ever suggests for Bubba is that he chew his food well. Meanwhile, maybe Ping Ping will resolve to learn a few words in English, but on the other hand, I think he is very expressive, even with his limited vocabulary.

Pinky: “Why do I need resolutions when I’m already perfect?”
A fair question, indeed!

Pinky: “rules are for other pandas.”

The files for the latest volume of The Panda Chronicles: The Pinky Defense are being reviewed even as we speak. After putting together 8 books of the cartoons, it finally seems (I say seems, because…) to be going smoothly, with no issues flagged by the printer, so I think it’s high time I reveal the cover, don’t you?

Thanks again to my Twitter friend from across the pond, @law_geek, for suggesting this title. The community of panda fans is awesome in the extreme!

Isn’t this just perfectly pinky?

What fresh heck is this? Pinky’s tax reform plan.

Here we are again! The New Year is still fresh and shiny, Pinky is plotting ways to win in all categories of the Global Panda Awards, an arctic freeze is blanketing the east coast, and way out west in the upper left hand corner, it is raining as usual. Is Pinky’s tax reform plan any worse than that of the Republicans? Only time will tell.

But just a reminder, if you have to cheat to win, it’s not really winning, is it?

I guess Pinky and the GOP have something in common, as much as it pains me to say…

BTW, progress is progressing on the next volume of The Panda Chronicles! I think on Wednesday we will reveal the cover in a sneak preview! Huzzah! Be sure to tune in on Wednesday!

It’s a whole new year out there…

Hey! Did ya miss me?

It’s another new year out there and I’m hoping that some form of sanity will return to the world at large. Of course, I don’t have a whole lot of faith that it will, but you can be very sure of one thing: that I will keep sharing panda satire with you every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. If that isn’t the definition of insanity, I don’t know what is.

But I’m not just fiddling while Rome burns…

Your comments and messages that I’ve received over the last year + have confirmed what I hoped was true. That having something to laugh with helps, and even when I’m commenting on some of the dire news of the day, I can almost always find something a little bit funny in it.

So shut up and post some panda satire, already!!!! Okay! Okay!

new year

I couldn’t resist.

Day 28: 31 Days of Pandas

Only four more days of pandas! Oh my! But never fear, we will still be here when the clock chimes midnight on the 31st, with new ‘toons for the New Year! Huzzah! Before long, the resolutionists* will be clogging up my yoga class (*people who resolve to start going to yoga again, after 9 months or more of not showing up), crowding the vegetable and health food aisles at the grocery store and leaving the cookie aisle vacant. (Bwahahaha! More for me!!!!)

So here are the things that I resolve for the new year:

  1. Eat more frosting. There is no reason not to if we are all going to die in a nuclear apocalypse; our healthcare is gone, as is all government support for those in need.
  2. Resist  evil where ever it lifts it’s ugly head.
  3. Eat more frosting.
  4. Keep drawing pandas, and letting them speak their minds.
  5. Eat more…um…frosting.
  6. Get to yoga on time so a resolutionist does not take my spot.
  7. Eat more….you guessed it! Frosting!!!!!!

The panda kindergaten knows where you live.

Day 24: 31 Days of Pandas celebrates Christmas Eve

Have yourself a pandy little Christmas…. Note baby Pinky riding with Santa!

Well, I know what one of my wishes is! How about you?

All I Want for Christmas…

31 days

Who didn’t have a sibling like Pinky?

Speaking of Pinky, I have a large number of photos of pandas that I use for my changing desktop display, and a series of them showing this week are of baby Pinky! One of my more skeptical friends says, how can you tell? Pandas  all look alike! But Pinky had a way about her from a very young age. It is a look that says, “wook at dat paw! dat is da mos’ bootiful paw dat ebber was!” She was a star and a cover girl from such an early age!

Never say “No” to a Pinky!

I love that one!

Day 16: 31 Days of Pandas

Oh my, we are halfway through 31 Days of Pandas! Tomorrow we bring you the next installment of 101 Bebe Panda-Nations. I have to admit, it’s kind of a Cliff’s Notes of the 101 Dalmatians story, but I wanted to get it done by the end of the year so I could go into the new book, The Panda Chronicles Book 8: The Pinky Defense. Huzzah! Credit for the title goes to a friend in the twittersphere, who, as it happens, is a lawyer from across the pond. A fan of cats and pandas, she has joined the pandaratti on Twidder, as well as a member in good standing in the Pinky fan club.

There may be other pandas, but there will never be another Pinky! “Fank goodness,” says Bubba.

Taxes

Oppressive is a very fluid concept for Congress as they work on their so called #TaxPlan

And if you’re wondering why Six and Sebben are still appearing so small in the ‘toons, well, here’s why! Is this MY fault?

I wouldn’t believe any of Pinky’s stories, Bubba!

Echoes of Comics History

As I was working on the last couple of installments of The Panda Chronicles, I had a little bit of a revelation. I’ve talked before about being influenced by several of the great well known, as well as the not so well known, cartoonists who have come before me. One of my favorites growing up was definitely Peanuts. The Sunday comics were the first thing I would read when the paper arrived, and I loved nothing better than Peanuts.

So, today’s ‘toon is a tribute: to Linus and Lucy Van Pelt, and their relationship, which gave me so much inspiration as I developed Pinky and Bubba’s personalities and interaction.

Maybe some day The Panda Chronicles will make comics history

Maybe Bubba is having a Halloween SEASON! Did you ever think of THAT, Pinky?

The NSA Has Nothing on Pinky!

Remember when we were all freaked out about the news that the NSA was monitoring our phone calls and internet communications? Yeah…those seem like the good times now! Sad! But as Bubba is soon to find out, that the NSA is a piker when compared to the surveillance capabilities of Princess Pinky! And now she has gone undercover off camera as she has her crew of decorators comes in to give her quarters in Dujiangyan a little updating and sprucing up.

So she says!

There is no telling what Pinky is getting up to and no one knows that better than her adorable and easily manipulated little brother, Bubba. As I was drawing the next ‘toon, I realized that they are inspired, in large part, by none other than Lucy and Linus Van pelt, of Peanuts fame! Am I wrong? But in the meantime, remember….

Pinky knows where you live!!!!

NSA

Did you want to rephrase that last statement?

BTW, I have been given permission to post this notice about next years Panda Convention in PanDiego California! Final details are still be worked out as to pricing, but we wanted you to have the opportunity to save the date just in case you might could be in the vicinity of the Pandiego Zoo in early March of 2018!

Job Growth for Lawyers : The Pinky Defense

I suppose you could say that the reign of King Don the first (and hopefully the last) did spike job growth in one sector of our economy: Lawyers! Hopefully they got high marks in their study of the Constitution, because it’s gonna come in real handy, as certain folks do their best to dismantle it. I think that the lawyers in this country have been getting a real work out. I just hope enough of them are on the side of justice, truth, beauty, and pandas.

It’s gonna be an interesting winter.

Fortunately, we have The Pinky Defense.

Maybe Mommee Mei might have some influence over Pinky…dream on!

PS: Thanks all for being patient in waiting for replies to your comments last week. I had a great time at the workshop I assisted with/ took as a student. You’re never too old to learn some new tricks! I definitely learned some great ones form our esteemed teacher, Koo Schadler. Now I am back in the painting and panda central studio, where I belong. Hopefully my newfound skills in painting will give me more time to…draw pandas!
