It’s Birthday Week at the Panda House!

Of course now, The Panda House, at least as regarding Pinky, Bubba, and Bikkie, is more of a magical concept than an actual place, since now Binky Li and QB live in the REAL Panda House. But in my mind, Pinky, Bubba, and Bikkie will always live in that Panda House with their Mommee and Daddy (MX: Oh, thanks a LOT!)

Since Pinky’s birthday (Pinky: a BIG nashunal holiday!!!) is on Saturday, We will unveil Pinky’s new “Starter Pack” image today, along with a link to one of her products on RedBubble, the place that I make my designs available on stuff you can buy for your very own. It’s a fun way to support Panda Satire! (Ask and mebbee you will receive!)

But since today is Bikkie’s actual birthday, we must (we must, we must!) share some of our favorite snippets of stories about Bikkie, and of course, his beloved Mister Poppee!

Happy Bearday, Biscuit!

I guess all the pandas are going to want their own Starter Packs. Watch for them through the fall. I have so many ideas*.

Be the Bear
Bob T *well, if we survive that is, Panda

A Panda Chronicles faithful reader shared this little snippet of a Meta A.I. reaction to my post of my “Fat Bear Week” Starter Pack. I thought it was kind of funny, but your mileage may vary. Here it is for your enjoyment/edification/outrage or whatever:

“Bob T Panda’s post suggests they’ve created something new, but details are scarce. The reactions indicate 57 people engaged with the post: 16 likes, 27 loves, and 14 haha reactions. Given the enthusiastic response, especially with 27 loves, it’s likely something creative or meaningful. Without more context, it’s hard to say what exactly it is, but it seems people are impressed or entertained.
I’m here to help with a wide range of topics, from answering questions and providing information to generating texts and ideas. I can assist with creative tasks like writing stories or brainstorming, offer insights on various subjects, or simply chat about everyday life. What specific aspect of my work would you like to know more about?”

I could definitely add some editorial comments to Meta’s A.I. B.S., but I’ll leave that up to you.

If Congress can go on Vacation in August, so can I

Okay, I’m not really on vacation, it’s just that some days I don’t get the things done that I think I will. Meanwhile, over at the Substack, I posted the whole story of Ping being targeted by the evil ICE. The second installment drops soon today.

But it IS the Panda Birthday Season, and we do have some important Panda Birthdays looming, so I’ll just take a little dive into the archives and pull up a few things!

Guess who has a birthday in August?

Pinky: if you guessed any bear other than me, try again.

There must be cake!
Oh dear….are you going to leave her there?
Is this any way to treat our Nation’s most adorable icon?
Pinky needs stuff and she needs it now!
And it was ever thus….
Meihem, not Mayhem.

Remember when Six and Sebben’s older sisters were Pinky’s nemesis?

I was really afraid this was going to happen.
What is Pinky reading?

Don’t make Pinky mad!

Be the Bear
Bob T I’ll probably have some new ‘toons next week Panda

Celebrating the Panda Birthday Season!

Well, I didn’t get a new ‘toon done for today, but fortunately, the deep archives of the Panda Chronicles has something for everyone! Since I carelessly forgot Mr. Wu’s birthday last week (is it a sign of encroaching senility? Or maybe too much insane NooZ about you know who!!!!)we’ll instead have the ENTIRE story of Mr Wu’s adventure at the circus with the Panda Kindergarten!

Anyway, Here is one of my favorite Wu Self stories for your enjoyment!

Fanmail from some Flounder?
Voices in the night, a ladder, a letter…adios…
“Are we there, yet?”
This is a case for…Inspector Panda!

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with the one, the only Real Wu Self!

Till next time…
Be the Bear
Bob T guess whose Birthday is coming up soon & if you didn’t guess Pinky, you’re wrong Panda

It’s Panda Birthday Season

…and I can’t believe I forgot Mr. Wu’s birthday on the 29th! I am so ashamed! He turns 13 this year and you know what that means!

Today, I am a bear!

And now for today’s ‘toon…

In penance for missing Mr. Wu’s birthday, I shall forgo the cake, and just eat a bowl of frosting! Happy birthday, Wu Bear! You are still the best. Sorry that those other pandas stole your birthday for themselves!

Be the Bear
Bob T I can’t remember everything Panda

Hold on to your Bootini! It’s Six and Sebben’s BIRTHDAY!!!

Technically speaking, Saturday September 3rd is their birthday and believe it or don’t, they are turning 6! How is this possible? (Lun Lun: Tell me about it, bless their hearts!)

So, without further ado (or any thoughts about just where the documents that went in those empty top secret folders are…) let’s dive into the archives for the Best (ha ha) of Six and Sebben!

Twinkies 2.0
Twinkies 2.0 put on a show!
Hey! What are you two doing up on top of the ski jump?
Four pandas are better than two.
I don’t think this crew of minions is going to be quite as devoted as her last ones.
Who will win? Six and Sebben battle it out on the track!
What WAS that stuff Six dumped in front of Sebben’s car?
That’s one heck of a lot of ear wax!!!
Well, bless her heart!

I bet this was the last time it was Aunty Mei’s idea for Six and Sebben to visit the DC panda house!

I hope you enjoyed this round up of ‘toons featuring Six and Sebben! we are lucky to still have them in Pandalanta this long. Or maybe China kept saying, “Um, the number you have reached is not in service…please send different pandas if you think you have reached this number in error.”

Be the Bear
Bob T I definitely did not take those classified documents out of those folders Panda

#ClapLouder for Pinky!

Let’s have one more round of celebration for the DC Panda Kids!

You can’t make me….
Taxes
Uh oh…it’s the Pinky Revenue Service!
Well, it WAS a good messaging opportunity…
Is there anything more fun than watching Bike play wit Mommee or even just roll around in the den by himself?

I hope you enjoyed these ‘toons from the archives, as we celebrate the birthdays of Pinky, Bubba, and Bikkie!

‘Toon in next week for more fun with pandas, and mebbee a little bit of current events!

Be the Bear
Bob T I have definitely not been in the secret tunnel under Purr-a-Lago Panda

When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough go POOF!!!

Several people had expressed their concern about Bikkie arriving home in time for his birthday. I can only say, time is a very elastic thing in ‘toon world, so it is STILL Bikkie’s birthday as we arrive in today’s ‘toon!

Also, a little POOF can account for many elaborately drawn scenes!

Who could that be?!?!?!?!?!

‘Toon in Thursday for the next exciting episode!

Be the Bear!

This is it! The BIG Weekend! Three Birthdays in a Row!

CAKE CAKE CAKE CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKE!

Let the fun begin! LOTS of ‘toons for today!

Send cuppycakes and magical wands!
I love a good art forgery, don’t you?
Feed me, Mama!
“If Pinky is grounded, can I have her dessert?”
31 days
Oh come on…hasn’t that ever happened to you? One minute there are two dozen cuppycakes just sitting there, and the next minute they’re gone?
Don’t ignore Princess Pinky!

Remember Bubba’s first birthday when he flunked cake?

birthday
Bubba flunks “cake”

He was determined not to let that happen on his 2nd Birthday!

It does not pay to be late! You don’t want to flunk cake again, do you, Boo Boo?

2020 was the year we thought we were all going to lose our minds, or die from the plague, or be faced with four more years of you know who. But in August, something wonderful happened. And then there were Three!(or 4 counting Ping!)

A new cubby! The possibilities are endless!

Pinky did something wrong? I’m shocked!
Bikkie has a name!!!!

Later in the year, we will rerun the whole Beary Poppins story, but for now, here is one of my favorite panels…

Let’s go fly a kite…
uh oh.

And to wrap up our Birthday Celebration Weekend…

I hope you are enjoying Bikkie’s cake at the zoo! Stay ‘tooned till “toonsday!”

Be the Bear!
Bob T Panda

It’s full on Birthday Season at the SNZ!

Next weekend is the big trifecta, the birthdays of Bikkie (our own miracle cubbie) Bubba, and of course, Princess Pinky (#ClapLouder) Rather than try to sort out the ‘toons, this week and next (and probably the week after) I’m just gonna feature all of them.

Hopefully, it will distract us from the even worse clusterf*ck that is happening around TFG and his collection of purloined classified documents that he secreted away at Purr-a-Lago.

But first, I was looking in my computer files for some art business stuff, and I came across this thing I wrote. I’m not sure what I wrote it for, but I thought I would share it here. The file was called “100 words to my younger self”

Take chances.
Listen to the voice in your head that says “YES! …What if…”
Don’t listen to voices that say what you want is impossible.
Don’t wait for permission.

The cost of a trip to Italy is the same whether or not you worry about the cost.
Walk away from toxic people; you won’t change them, but they’ll try to change you,
and not for the better.

Hang out with people who appreciate you.
Pay attention to what and who makes you happy.
Stay connected to those you love.

Watch panda videos.

Take chances.

Now, here are some of my favorite ‘toons about my favorite pandas!

Pinky tests her powers….
National Zoo cub makes mom Mei Xiang disappear
oops.
Princess Pinky is fooled by Mei Xiang at the National Zoo
Oh Princess Pinky, mom has a trick or two up her paw, I think…
He’s small for now, but Bubba Bei Bei is shaping up to be a whole lot of panda!
Really, Pinky….It’s not nice to tease your little brother.
See? I told you it was broken!

What a great excuse to run some of my most favorite ‘toons!

Be the bear

More ‘toons to come next week!

Sunday Thoughts and the Beginning of Mr. Wu’s Birthday Week!

As you might imagine, the January 6th Committee Hearings are giving me many, many thoughts. Having the events put into a running timeline, from what was happening behind the scenes even before the election, right up until the minute by minute events at TFG’s rally to the coordinated effort (pre planned as we are learning) to storm the Capitol, is really helpful to understand the enormity of this event.

We really did come very close to losing our democratic form of government.

I appreciate all the people (primarily republicans who worked for TFG) who have come forward to testify. I really do. It doesn’t make them heroes, but they did need to find a reservoir of courage to speak up. There are some of course, who despite the fact they admit that TFG went three stops past too far, say they would still have voted for him and that they are “proud of their accomplishments.”

Really?

Maybe they want to stay in good standing with the GOP, such as it is, or maybe they have the very real fear that angry mobs will show up on their doorsteps or attack them online. This is happening and these acts are terrible. The violence that has been directed at some of the people who have testified is not the equivalent of peaceful protest at the recent SCOTUS decisions or attacks by the states on reproductive health freedom.

I am also grateful the representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger have stepped up to be such integral members of the J6 Committee. Despite what TFG and his minions say, it really IS bipartisan with them on board.

I would just have this one little thought for them to consider as they move forward with their life in politics or out of it:

I know that we are never going to agree with many of our core philosophies of what constitutes good government. But I ask if you can see that the GOP stance on voting, on telling lies about your opponents, are the very things that brought us to the point that a corrupt president would think it was his god given right to abuse his office, mismanage a global pandemic, and end with an attempt to overthrow the government.

Going forward I would wish not that we agree on everything, but that we can accept that we each have sincerely held beliefs. That we can debate these differences without telling lies and attacking each other. That voting is a right and the more people that are engaged in voting, the better it is for our country. That an educated population is more productive than an ignorant one. That healthcare and housing and adequate food for all makes a better, safer country for everyone. That clean air and water and open space and pandas are part of having a strong country. (did you notice I snuck pandas in there?)

People should be able to be who they are, love and marry who they wish, or not marry at all if that is their preference. Why is this such a hard thing?

But now, it’s time to start celebrating the Wu Self’s Birthday Season because he turns 10 this year!!!!

“Howdy do! I’m Mr. Wu! Who are you?”
“Wu calls his dance, ‘Ode to a Weaf’ “
Yo ho ho and a bottle of BooBeer!
An explorer’s work is never done.
It is so hard for a small panda to prevail….
Whatever could be in the box the panda kindergarten is delivering to Mr. Wu?

We will continue this adventure next Sunday, in part 2 of Mr. Wu’s birthday celebration!

Till then, keep being the bears, remember to check your registration and VOTE! Current polls are showing that Democrats have a much stronger possibility of holding on to both the House and the Senate. This is only possible if we get informed as to who wants to do what and then get out there and VOTE!
