More from the Animal Justice League!

Sometimes the news does not disappoint.

Fight the Humor Deficit! Make fun of people on Twidder!

I have to admit that I have come to like Twidder more than I do Fezbook. Maybe it’s because Fezbook has come to seem kind of unwieldy. I can’t easily find all the comments from people that are actually relevant to a discussion I am having with them, because Fezbook seems to want to give me hundreds of obscure notifications for every one that is part of an ongoing discussion with friends.

Meanwhile over on Twidder, I get a healthy (um…maybe not) dose of news, connection with other panda fans, and connections with other people in the kid lit and writing communities at large. And then there are the snarky parody accounts…

We must fight the humor deficit with every pun at our disposal!!!!

What’s that you say, Bob? He has responsibilities?

And meanwhile, we are about to launch the next phase of the Panda Pin Project over at Kickstarter! If you’ve been following along, you’ll see that it’s going to launch at noon (PDT) today!!! So get ready…get set…not yet…this link is just a preview until the project launches at noon!

It’s Sunday Funday!

Faithful Panda fan Vicky V reminded me of a series of ‘toons, about one of Pinky’s fundraising schemes, which lead me to re-read that series so I decided to share them here. We all need a good laugh, right? Oy Vey! I don’t know how much more craziness I can take!

So here we go, down memory lane…

Aren’t you already in enough trouble, Pinky?

You knew Mommee was going to get angry, didn’t you?

Pinky may have been put in Twidder Jail, but…

…I’m still there, kicking butt and taking names. Really…I love Panda twitter so much. FezBook has it’s good points too, but for some reason, it feels more vast and therefore fragmented and I miss a lot of posts.

Anyway…All is going well over at my Kickstarter project (still almost two weeks to get your Pinky pin!) We have enough in the banky pig to have the pins made, as well as have them put on groovy cards (mebbee with another picture of Pinky on it!).

But meanwhile…back at the Panda House…

Mebbee Bubba and Ping Ping can help…is this really happening?

By the by…you may remember that right before Christmas, I taught a class on making comics to a group of young persons. Apparently some of them had a good time, and their parents did not want to have me arrested and a group of them (a girl scout troop) want to do it again. I think I should show them the ‘toons about Pinky and the Meihems and the panda Scout Cookie sale!

Wish me luck!

You may be headed for…

Twidder Jail!

If you answer yes to any of these questions, YOU may already be in Twidder Jail!
Have you told the “president” or one of his minions, exactly what you think of him directly?
Have you accused a mansplainer of mansplaining and told him where he could take his mansplaining?
Have you confronted a bully on Twidder, who is actually a big whiney baby who, after calling YOU a snowflake, reports YOU for giving them a piece of your mind?

You are not alone.

Who would ever imagine Pinky would do something to offend someone? #ClapLouder

Meanwhile, we are doing great over at our Kickstarter campaign to make enameled pins of all of your favorite Panda Chronicles Characters! (Yes, you, too, Bebe Maurice!!!) If you haven’t checked it out yet, there is still time over here! Be the bear! and #ClapLouder!

In case you might be interested….

Sunday Funday!

…I have a new Kickstarter campaign running since this past Thursday. For those of you who don’t know about Kickstarter, here’s how it works:

and that’s what it’s all about!

Some of you may remember some earlier campaigns: (Not to mention what the panda kindergarten did to Mehitabel!)

Get ready…….

ready

Think of the next couple weeks like NPR and their pledge drives!

There was my campaign to raise funds for a trip to see pandas in China…

Isn’t it time for a cuppycake?

Of course, Pinky was happy to help!

Update!: We’ve already reached funding minimums! Huzzah! I’ll be posting some stretch goals TOMORROW!!!!

The Scandals Keep Mounting…

Will we ever see the end of this? Voter suppression, lies from what should be trusted government spokespersons, feeding and ramping up the fears of the American public.

But where traumas and tribulations are rampant, pandas ride in to save the day. With humor, at least. That’s something, isn’t it?

Before we get to today’s ‘toon, I want to tell you about a little project I have in mind. A couple years ago, Kickstarter came up with a concept for small projects for the month of January. The idea is that you create a project with rewards limited to 100 “things”, so there is only 1 reward level.

I’ve been thinking about this for a year, and doing some sketches.  There have been some great enameled pins being designed by artists, and I think a series of Panda Chronicles pins would be a great addition to the pins that are now available. Depending on the response for this pin, I can do additional projects with additional images. I

I bet you want to know what the pin will look like…

Of course, Pinky demanded to be on the first pin. Proposed size, approximately 1 inch high by 3/4 inch wide.

Please feel free to share your comments, let me know if this is something you might be interested in. I’m working now on setting up the project over on Kickstarter, and plan to go live around the middle of January, with a 2 week funding period. (not much time, I know!) More information will follow soon!

Meanwhile, here are Tuesday’s pandas!

Is there no end to our misery? The chill of voter suppression can’t be alleviated by putting on a sweater!

Panda on, Panda on!

It’s True! I Went to China

…and I didn’t even bring you a lousy tee shirt! For those of you who supported my Kickstarter project to travel to China, you have been following along with my real time posts from the road. But if you aren’t part of that faithful contingent, don’t despair! I’ll be transferring my trip journal to these very pages, adding photographs and sketches that I did on the road, AND sharing the artwork that will be forthcoming as soon as I can escape the jet lag nap monster that has hit me hard since my return.

The time difference between the west/lefty coast of the US and China is 15 hours, with a skip and a jump across the international date line thrown in for good measure. I’m only beginning to go through my photographs, to sort out the travel documentary photos from the eventual art photos. I’ll also be writing some ‘toons about my travels, including today’s offering!

Let’s see what Bob has brought back from China! Huzzah!

China

Well, it’s better than a tee shirt, right?

Ping Ping is a real panda that I met at the Gengda Panda base. He was the sweetest little panda, and according to his nanny, the most gentle panda. We had a heartfelt squeaking conversation, after which, I fed him carrots and panda bread. It was the best day ebber!

And don’t worry! I won’t forget about Bubba, Pinky, the Meihems, Six and Sebben, Wu, and the rest of the panda Chronicles gang! Stay tuned!

It’s all over but the shouting …

…and the panda dancing and hey! Pass that plate of cuppycakes over here!!!! I’ll be shouting from the rooftops…um…well, not actually the rooftops, because I’m afraid of heights, but there has been dancing and singing since yesterday at 5 PM when my Kickstarter campaign closed.

Shouting and dancing, dancing and shouting !!!!

shouting

You’ll forgive the shouting, but we are having a celebration!

Well, Mehitabel is just shouting.

Now, I will admit that I did this cartoon before the end of my project, and even before I had reached my funding goal. I thought about doing a sad, “we didn’t make our funding goal” cartoon, kind of like how politicians write both a victory and a concession speech so they are ready either way. But I decided I would have enough time to do that on the day after the campaign ended.

And thanks to you all, I didn’t need to do that sad cartoon!

So now, (after we finish this last plate of cuppycakes…urp! ‘scuse me!) the real work begins. Very shortly I’ll be organizing my lists, ordering the embroidered patches and logo bags, planning what art materials I’ll take to China and how to organize and pack them. Oh..and scheduling my hepatitis A shot as well as the suggested typhoid shot.

And once those things are done, I’ll be setting up my trip blog for those who contributed to my campaign. It will eventually be available for all to view, I think, but until sometime after the trip, it will only be available to my Kickstarter supporters.

Thank you all again! I’m so excited to share the art (and panda satire) that emerges from this trip. It’s a tough job,but somebody’s got to cuddle those baby pandas!
