Pinky Still Has a Plan for Dat

I am sad to hear that Elizabeth Warren is thinking of dropping out, but it seems there is no path to victory for her. I can’t get in to all my thoughts about it here. Suffice to say, that if people didn’t second guess themselves into not voting their hearts, she would be doing much better.

Who will win the nomination? Still too early to tell, but who ever it is, I’ll vote for them. I already cast my vote for Warren for next Tuesday’s WA primary, and while some may say I threw my vote away, especially if she has already dropped out by then, I don’t think I did. It made me happy to vote for a smart, dedicated public servant who I think would have made an excellent president. Now, if we take back the Senate, I could wish for her as Senate Majority leader. Then some things would get done.

But meanwhile, Pinky is still in the race!

What the Heck is a Caucus, Anyway?

Despite my 40 years in Washington (the one on the upper lefthand corner), I think I went to one Presidential Caucus my entire time living here. Don’t yell at me. The first 10 or so years I was here, I was usually working during those times (caucuses are not very accommodating of people who have to work evenings). The rest of the time, well, the idea that I would choose my candidate by having to actually talk to other people and couldn’t just make up my mind in private, that really doesn’t appeal to me.

I went to one in 2008, and had planned to go to the 2016 one, but the flu took care of that. But this year, WA finally got the message and now we have a “normal” primary, where we can vote whenever the heck we want (once we have our ballots and before the March 10 deadline). I love our all vote by mail state system. And my record for voting (other than caucuses) is darn near perfect!

But what were Pinky and Bubba doing at the Iowa caucuses?

Pinky is always getting Bubba in trouble! It’s more important than ever that EVERYONE votes!

What did we do last February?

What were we doing at this time last year? I suspect we thought things could not get possibly get worse, but then, here we are!

Meanwhile, tiny pandas are marching off to save everyone!

The discovery of thousands of tiny pandas has rocked the archeological world! This find has been compared to the thousands of terra cotta warriors, discovered in China!

Some of the tiny felty pandas have already made their way to their new homes! More are on their way. Currently, I’m able to complete the pandas for about one group every week or so. Fans of Mr. Wu, heads up! your pandas will heading your way late next week!

But let’s see what we were up to last February!

Just in case you were wondering, HWMNBN is still impeached and will be impeached through all of eternity and beyond. Forever. If you were, indeed, wondering. No matter how many newspapers he waves in the air (and we just don’t care) he will always be impeached. He is becoming rapidly more unhinged, if his rant at the Prayer Breakfast last week is any indication.

But we have important things to do here. We should not give in to despair, no matter how much we would like to pull the covers over our heads (believe me, I know!) The first mailing of Tiny Emotional Support Pandas went out this morning! Huzzah! Emotional support pandas are on the way!

I’ve been making different pandas randomly, as my mood takes me, and the first group to head out was the original Hold Me closer Tiny Panda group (everybody sing!). Next up will be the basic Pinky pandas. (As differentiated from Special Pinky!) Now more than ever, we all need tiny pandas!

The Year in Review Part 2

Before we dive in to our Year in Review encore presentation, can I just say OH MY FRIGGING GOD!!!! The tiny panda (Hold me closer tiny panda) Kickstarter reached its goal amount 13 minutes after launching. I am astounded with gratitude for this response. It also was listed as a Kickstarter Project We Love most of the day on Friday. Needless (or needle-less) to say, I have a lot of felting to do over the coming months. If you are afraid you missed your favorite panda, check back at the project, because I added some more reward categories!

Thank you again, from deep within my heart. I can’t wait to get these pandas to you! (After I make them of course!) This has the added benefit of getting to visit the Abundant Earth Fiber store again, which may now be called my happy place!

But now, on with the Year in Review for April, May, and June (Wherein we are reminded of why we need emotional support pandas!)

The Year in Review Part One

I did warn you I was going to do this. It will be instructive (not to mention profoundly depressing) to look back both here in panda satire, as well as in the real world (or the reality world…whatebber!) and see where we started 2019!

So in January…

The Government shutdown, orchestrated by HWMNBN started in December, and still continued into February, heedless of putting 100’s of 1,000’s of people out of work. Or was it millions?

March brought us the presidential candidacy floating of yet another unqualified billionaire, this time a purveyor of double-half-caff-frappacino-with-skim-whippy-cream-and-sprinkles, claiming that the obvious disdain for his proposed presidential run, was a sure sign that the people wanted him to do it. Fortunately, he fizzled out (bad back, my behind!) and he has receded to the obscurity he deserves.

“Hey! I’m still back here!”

The people have spoken!

And then there was the return of everyone’s favorite grizzlies…Frank and Mikey!

“We are NEVER going to get our security deposit back!!!”

Day 30 ~ 31 Days of Pandas!

It’s Day 30 of 31 Days of Pandas! Thank you for joining me for this month-long Pandapalooza! It is always fun dipping into the archives to see what floats to the surface!

We are looking at a very stressful year ahead. HWMNBN is not going to go quietly into the night like Nixon did. He is going to go kicking and screaming and saying UNFAIR WITCH HUNT all the way. We need to be very brave and stand up for the Constitution and for Democracy. We need all the pandas and frosting that we can get!

To that end, let me leave you with some of my all time favorite ‘toons from over the years!
