Wowee, a big day at the Panda Chronicles just because I shot my mouth off. There are (and will continue to be) some who disagree with me.  It’s not only the role of cartoonists to entertain; sometimes we have to poke gentle fun at people and events we think need poking. Sometimes it gets us in trouble, and sometimes people who don’t agree stop listening, and that’s OK.  Art is about expressing what the artists feels,  not saying just what they think people want to hear, which would be tough, since there are many points of view.  Just sayin.

Now let’s have some fun, relax and embrace our inner pandas, ‘kay?

It’s Mr Wu Wednesday and we have a Double Feature!

Huzzah!  Just because the government felt the need to go to their room and take a nap, doesn’t mean that we ever rest here at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire!

Now, there have been a few allegations flying around cyberspace tonight, and I aim to put them to rest right here and now.  There is absolutely no proof that Mr. Wu planned and implemented the government shutdown, for the sole purpose of shutting down the National Zoo Panda cams. Mr. Wu has called a press conference to clear up any misunderstandings….

Hey, It’s International Talk like a Pirate Day! Huzzah and AAArrgggHHH!

While Thursday is not a normal posting day (and don’t get any ideas about Princess Pinky Thursdays) It IS a national holiday, and  by that, of course I mean, International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  Huzzah!

It’s Mr Wu Wednesday, and Mr Wu is off on a NEW adventure!

If you haven’t guessed already, we are calling Mr. Wu’s new adventure, The Wizard of Wu! I can’t tell you exactly how it is all going to come out (I am after all a “pantser”*) but I can tell you that Mr Wu makes it home safely in the end, and learns a valuable lesson.  I promised Doxiemom that there would be no flying monkeys, but I’m afraid the pandy kindy has stepped in to fill that role.

And remember, it’s all make believe.

I think we can now put to rest that very unflattering portrait painted of Tian Tian (Huh? who me?) in the New Yorker last week.  Tests have shown that he’s the father of the newest, tiniest panda in the US.  Almost everyone is hip-hip-hoorah-ing about our precious panda princess!

It’s been a hard couple of months for the Wu-self…what with getting dragged home from the circus covered in cake, right in front of his new true love, Bee, the Bear. And then, spending his birthday in detention, and  to make matters worse, there are now THREE new baby pandas on Wu’s home turf, not to mention a cubby explosion heard ’round the world.

Sigh….so what’s a little panda to do, except start thinking of where he could go, where he would always be the center of attention….

Oh my…we have made Mr. Wu’s mother cry, and we are very sorry about that. (Perhaps not as sorry as we will be if she gets her paws on us, but never mind about that now!) Today she springs into action and brings in help from a very um… reputable source:

Editors note: I realize I may seem to be capricious and uncareful with the cute wu self…sending him off with the panda kindergarten in the middle of the night.  Perhaps an all-Wu-all-the-time cartoon line up on Mondays and Wednesdays will keep you all from tar-and-feathering me.  Maybe?
