Celebrating Lun Lun

It’s true that most of the ‘toons on the Panda Chronicles focus on the younger panda generation. There is more scope for the imagination, as some other “Anne” (with an ‘e’) might have said. But Lun Lun has recently submitted to an ultrasound, which shows not one, but 2 cubs in the oven. I’m trying not to get excited, because there is still a lot that can go wrong with pregnant pandas. But so far, Lun Lun has proved to be a great mom and has had healthy cubs even while…um…their gender identity was sometimes not what it seemed.

It’s Not a Party Unless There’s a Fight

Back in the real world, Pinky had a wonderful time at her birthday party, having her own cake all to herself. Bubba on the other hand, either decided it was too hot, got spooked by the huge crowd, or just decided it was time for a nap, and left his cake for his mom Mei Xiang to have her way with. Fortunately in the world of Panda Satire, the party has just begun!

So it’s one for brawl and brawl for one!

It’s not a party till the pandas start a brawl! Fortunately, Bubba has his priorities in order.

And in other panda news, the Toronto Zoo, home of the almost one year old Canadian panda twins (known to the pandaratti as the TTwinkies) Now have a panda cam!!! The cam is only operational from 9 AM – 6:30 PM Toronto time, but it is a welcome addition to people who…um…really, really, REALLY need to watch panda cams for their…um…work. check it out here! (Not during working hours, of course!)

Late breaking news update!!!!!

An ultrasound from Zoo Atlanta conforms Lun Lun is carrying twins. I know, I know…it’s almost impossible to tell whether pandas are pregnant or not, but now there are pictures! We are not nearly out of the woods, so let’s all clasp our paws together and wish for a safe delivery and two healthy cubs. BTW, this will put Lun Lun on top of the panda production table for US pandas, as this will be number 6 and 7. (Bai Yun had 6 before she retired after the Wu Self was born; “when you have already produced perfection, why try for more?” said the modest young Wu)

Yoo Say It’s Your Birthday

Now, there is some possibility, as we move into ‘toons about Pinky’s Birthday, that she will behave…um…rather badly. No, no. Keep your faux surprise to yourself. You can’t fool me. I know that you know that Pinky has been known to behave in a way that her mother most definitely does not approve of. And when you add the fact that it is Pinky’s Birthday into the mix, and, that Bubba’s birthday is one day earlier….

Let’s face it. You are asking for trouble…

Complete with a flashback to the Meihem’s party just a few weeks ago…

Now, I want you to keep this last panel incident in mind, before you condemn Pinky’s actions in the next several cartoons. You can do that right?

Someone is having a Birthday Soon

Here at the Panda Chronicles headquarters, we take panda birthday season very seriously! And since Pinky’s (“and bubba’s!!!!!”) Birthday is just around the corner, we thought we would have a little Pinky-fest! Oh, what a surprise! A whole bunch of ‘toons all about Pinky!

Let the Pinky Fest begin!!!!!

Where Are The Real Pandas?

Well, it has been a little crazy busy around here, BUT, knowing it was going to get crazy busy, I got a little bit ahead on ‘toons for the weeks past. But of course, now my surplus is about to become a deficit. So I must ask: Where are the real pandas?

In other news, I have met (and hopefully recruited) a new young panda fan to the fold. If you are reading, Liam, welcome to the pandasphere! If there is anyone nicer to meet than a young reader, it is a young reader who loves pandas! Huzzah! Hope you didn’t drive your mom crazy on the way home quoting The Panda Chronicles Book 1: Your Brain on Pandas. That would make me feel terrible! (hee hee)

Keep being the bear! It’s almost Pinky’s (and Bubba’s) Birthday! Plans must be made! cakes must be frosted! Huzzah!

Oh my! Pinky called the other zoo residents Loser Animals! I don’t know if they will let her get away with this! And no way Mommee Mei is going to let her “Phexit” the Panda House! Has Pinky been channeling Mittens the Cat?

Party Time!

Because things don’t always happen in real time here at the Panda Chronicles, we have to go back in time a couple of weeks, because with all of Pinky’s shenanigans, the Meihems got shortchanged on their birthday cartoons. Um…actually…I think Pinky hijacked this ‘toon too. Well, who ever is in attendance, it’s Party Time!

Is anyone having the flashback to the wicked fairy not being invited to Briar Rose’s christening party?

Meanwhile, in the real world, history is being made, baby pandas are being born, and Mr. Wu is about to turn 4. Maybe Mei will go to the party there instead of waiting around for the Pinky fireworks.

No rant today, y’all!

An interlude with ice cream

Oh… the world has been too much with us lately. So many bad things happening in so many places. All I want to do is crawl under the covers, binge watch entire seasons of The Gilmore Girls (how did I not know of this show’s existence before???) and eat a really big bowl of ice cream. What we need now, more than ever, are pandas being pandas.

For those of you who are fans of watching the actual pandas via the panda cam at the Smithsonian National Zoo, you know that the grown up pandas daily get a treat of frozen fruit juice with fruit and carrots and other vegetables frozen into them. Mei Xinag is well known for not sharing her treats (and you wonder where Pinky learned the “no sharing” thing? It was Mom, all the way,) and not only does she not share her treats, she will steal the treats of any panda cub under her control.

Well, two can play at that game.

Where is Mittens

Something happened at the debate between Pinky, Bob and Mittens and nobody will tell us what happened. Where IS Mittens? Investigations are now underway, in an attempt to get to the bottom of his mysterious disappearance. Pinky isn’t talking and Mehitabel is claiming debate moderator privilege. Is that a real thing?

Uh oh. Is Bubba about to rat someone out?

Bubba better hope that Pinky is not listening in on the Panda House Party line. I don’t think Pinky will take kindly to any perceived disloyalty.
