It was Six and Sebben’s birthday this week! Hard to believe they turned FOUR!!! As is traditional at The Panda Chronicles, I like to feature the birthday bears on a Sunday Funday dive into the archives. Is it my fault if Pinky took three weeks to celebrate her birthday? She *might* make an appearance here too!
I’m working on some new felties which I really swear I will get photographed and up on the Buy Stuff with Pandas page…really soon! I went for a last visit to my felty supplier, Abundant Earth Fiber. The coronavirus restrictions meant they had to be closed for more than 4 months. Although they do have a vibrant online store, as a new member of the fiber arts community, their store was like a trip to Wonderland. There were always someone there, either knitting or spinning or just hanging out and ready to talk about wool. They recently made the difficult decision to close their retail space.
The mill lives on and they’ve made arrangements with another local store to carry some of their best selling yarns and fibers, and also to serve as a pick up location for online orders for us locals. As part of their closing, they had a sale on everything in the shop, so I am well stocked up on fiber for now. They are currently offering free shipping on everything ordered online for US addresses, so if you are a knitter, (or felter!) and want to order some stunningly beautiful yarn, I hope you’ll check them out. I don’t get anything for promoting them (other than their continued existence). Their philosophy of small, high quality batch yarn and fibers really resonates with me.

It’s a girl! It’s another girl!

Will there be cuppycakes?

Twinkies 2.0 put on a show!

Will these two ever get along?

Pinky’s previous minions are all grown up now, and know better than to listen to her, but…

Pinky and her new minions get down to serious business

I don’t think this crew of minions is going to be quite as devoted as her last ones.

The week of torturing you till the winner of the race was revealed is finally OVER! (Not to mention for those of you who were wondering what Six poured onto the track!)
There is news from the DC Panda House, but I’ll save it till after today’s ‘toon. If I make you wait any longer, you’ll show up at my house with burning pitchforks!

That’s one heck of a lot of ear wax!!!
Hee hee! Ear wax! I bet no one thought of that!!!!
So far so good. It’s possible that by the time this publishes, there will be a new baby panda in the cubby den. The latest report from the folks with their eyes on the ultrasound sounds very hopeful. Pseudo thumbs crossed!

This series was in honor of Jayelle. Gone, but never forgotten.
Here we are, back again for the second episode of our panda tribute to our departed friend! I think that Six is gonna be in a lot of trouble when this is all over!

What WAS that stuff Six dumped in front of Sebben’s car?

You may recall that a few weeks ago, we lost one of our dear members of the panda community. Jayelle was a fierce defender of her family, her friends, all animals (especially pandas) and her beloved NASCAR races. One of the panda fam suggested I do something incorporating her avatar (a panda with a checkered racing flag) into a ‘toon.
Never one to resist taking a simple idea and loading it up with a bunch of other stuff, I share with you now, this 3 part series that celebrates at least some of the things she loved.

Who will win? Six and Sebben battle it out on the track!
be the bear, everyone!

Between sadness for lives too short and outrage at what is going on in Portland, OR right now, I’m kind of worn out. So I’m just going to leave you with today’s ‘toon, ‘kay?

There were never such devoted sisters…

Keeping our fingers crossed that we will hear the pitter patter of little paws in DC soon… Happy BearDay Mommee Mei!
No, Pinky has not taken her rightful place as Presydent of the Untied States. Nor has Ping Ping learned to speak American Panda. (Ping!!!) No! Today is the day that Six and Sebben get their Panda Scout uniforms!

Cuteness abounds!

It is almost time for Six and Sebben’s FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!!! The second set of American born Panda Twins (from the pandas who brought you the Meihems!) are about to turn one year old! Huzzah! And in the panda birthday tradition that we started here at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire, we bring you a fabulous Furry Friday encore ‘toon presentation celebrating Six and Sebben!!!!

Panda Trek 2: The Next Generation
As I was looking for ‘toons for this week’s round up, I realized I had not done any of the twins until January of 2017. Partly, I’ve become a little superstitious, and not wanting to do ‘toons about baby pandas until I’m reasonably sure they are healthy, but mostly, I think because I was…um distracted. You know what I’m talking about.

Would it be such a bad thing?

It’s the year of the WUster!!!!

“Why can’t my children be as well behaved as Lun Lun’s,” mused Mei Xiang

We are starting a NEW Story this week! Huzzah! It is another of my fractured retellings of a very old and familiar story, with my own little pandy twist to it! Bwahahahahaha!
But first, I must report about PandAlanta fest, which took place last weekend at the Atlanta Zoo! A fabulous time was had by all, including the stars of the weekend, Six and Sebben, those delightful little pandas residing at the zoo with their parents. In addition to the warm up act (me!!!) we had a fabulous presentation from the folks at PDX Wildlife, who study – of all things – PANDAS!!!! What? You were expecting naked mole rats? Any way, they shared lots of pictures and told us about their research. Expect to see more about them here as not only are they doing important work for panda conservation, they were really nice people too!

This story seems a little, but not entirely, familiar!
Huzzah!
Book 7: Don’t Call Mee Boo Boo, has been getting a resounding welcome out there in the pandasphere and to thank you, we are offering a sale on all the earlier books in the Panda Chronicle Series, in case your library is not all stocked up on the earlier titles! You can find links to all the books here.
And in case you were wondering what I was up to last weekend at panda fest….

Okay. Laugh if you want, but there really is a panda convention. And no, we don’t ALL dress up like pandas. But if there is one thing panda fans love, it’s going to visit actual pandas, and talking about pandas. Do we know how to have a good time or what? Of course, if you are here reading these ‘toons, chances are you are one of those people who stalk pandas at every given opportunity! Be brave and admit it. It’s okay, you’re among friends here.

Oh, brave new world, with such pandas in it!
Update on the next collection of the Panda Chronicles: I finally successfully uploaded the files (yay!) …always the most stressful part. Now I’m waiting for them to approve my files so I can order a hard copy proof! Stay tuned for a cover reveal next week! Huzzah!
