Day 2: 31 Days of Pandas

Today we start with the baby Wu stories! These are some of my favorites, as they were the first time I realized the joy of creating alternate characters for actual real pandas! Sooooo, in that sense, Pinky’s persona is all Mr. Wu’s fault!

This was the very first Mr. Wu ‘toon!

Mr. Wu made many cameo appearances before he started appearing in feature stories.

“Wu calls his dance, ‘Ode to a Weaf’ ” The real life Mr. Wu had great fun playing with leaves, which inspired this ‘toon.

Yes, yes, it’s Fabulous Furry Friday, but what with the American Thanksgiving holiday, I was so busy in the kitchen that I never had time to prepare todays encore presentation post. Never fear, I am here now, and here are some toons from the way back machine to cheer your weekend.

It’s Friday, and you know what that means! Time for our purported leader to drop another bombshell and then go golfing! Fortunately, while you are rending your garments and gnashing your teeth, we have some classic panda toons to share with you!

The Wizard of Wu! Our holiday classic continues…

Hey kids! WE’re back with the next chapters of our beloved holiday classic The Wizard of Wu, brought to you courtesy of…well…ME!!! Join Wu, Mr. Toasty, and the mysterious panda who looks an awful lot like Wu’s older brother, not to mention Wu’s faithful companion, Binky the soccer ball!

Holiday Encore Presentation: The Wizard of Wu

Mr Wu meets up with someone who looks a lot like his brother, shortly after setting out on his journey

I have a bad feeling about this….

It’s time for another Holiday Classic: The Wizard of Wu!

Every time I reread The Wizard of Wu, I am enchanted all over again! I remember watching The Wizard of Oz every year around Halloween, and I was always terrified by the flying monkeys, by the evilness of the wicked Witch of the West, the whole idea that you could be whisked away by a tornado and wake up in a frightening new world.

So, after our re-broadcast of A Halloween Carol, I thought we should also have an encore presentation of that other holiday classic, The Wizard of Wu, for our Fabulous Furry Friday presentations! (Be on the look out for some cameo appearances for the newest junior pandas on the US panda scene!)

Huzzah!

Part Two: A Halloween Carol

Or Maybe Not. On with the show!!!!

Hmmm… Pinky still does not seem impressed. Perhaps the ghost of Halloween present will have more influence over her.

Uh oh, the ghost of halloween present just caught up with Pinky…

The Spirit of Halloweens yet to come is not a spirit to be messed with, right?

Surely you didn’t think she would totally reform, did you?

Wasn’t that fun? I hope nobody got really scared and threw their popcorn all over the room like…um…some pandas might have.

We Regret to Inform You…

…that we missed Talk Like a Pirate Day and International Red Panda Day! Really! I go away for two weeks and everything goes to panda poo! (but more about that later!) As the Meihems say, regret is a given! But what better excuse to rerun Mr. Wu’s pirate adventure and a toon or too featuring our reactionary red pandas?

You won’t regret re-reading all these classic toons!
