Against His Better Judgement, Bob Returns From China

Really, if I had known that you know who would still be president, that Puerto Rico would be devastated by a hurricane and that you know who would insult rather than help them, well, I might have remained in the panda kindergarten. But against my better judgement, I came home to all of the current events.

It was really kind of nice not being able to access Fezbook and Twidder. well, except I missed you all, so there you have it. I am still trying to get over jet lag, get my photos organized and all that, but I did get back in the studio today. Huzzah!

And against your better judgement, here are all of you! Huzzah!

better judgement,

Pretty sneaky, huh?

It’s Fabulous Furry Friday!

Once again, Fabulous Furry Friday rolls around, to bring you encore presentations of previously shown ‘toons. Why do we do this? NOT because we are lazy and don’t want to write and draw 3 new cartoons a week. Oh No! Okay, not entirely for that reason. (We do have some other projects in the works, after all!)

But as hard as it is to believe, there are some people reading these ‘toons who have not been here from the beginning, and maybe they would like an introduction to all the pandas, who work at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire (Putting pandas to work since 2008)

Of course, you could buy all my books and then you’d be up to date, wouldn’t you???

You could say this group of ‘toons comes from the Don’t Say We didn’t Warn You division.

cat came back

Is it just my imagination or does Mittens look even more crazed than before?

what do you have to lose?

Mittens is really back.

The Great Escape

Of COURSE Pinky has a secret tunnel!

Resistance is futile

All Mei Xiang has to do it look stern and…

Pinky

Well, who did you THINK she would enlist in her final attempt to stop Mittens the cat?

Do NOT mess with Pinky and the Meihems!

do the right thing.

The Power of the Poof

day after

Remember the song “The Eve of Destruction”? That’s what today feels like.

Alas…it did not turn out as we hoped.

Resist, good pandas, resist!

Have a great and fabulous furry Friday, and try not to worry about…um…anything.

It wouldn’t be an ICPS* fable, without an appearance on…

Nope, it just wouldn’t be an Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire fable, without an appearance of the cast on the extremely famous and popular (most popular show ever!!!) Mehitabel Tonite!!! show! Meet the pandas behind the seemingly true to life portrayal of the exciting tale, Being Endangered is SUCH a Curse!! Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not true!

Are we talking about alternative facts again?

Well, no, just a little fiction within a fiction, a tale told on a stormy night to calm little pandas as they listen to the wind howl. A tale to bring tranquility to pandas who are being buffeted by a political wind(bag) the blows evil onto the land.

But enough about the battle between good and ebil! Let’s meet the cast of Being Endangered is SUCH a Curse!

Bears will be bears

Pinky and the Meihems work things out…

I bet everyone (especially their moms) are breathing a deep sigh of relief that Pinky and the Meihems are managing to work things out. Then there is the small issue of mebbe Bubba glowing in the dark (“just a liddle!!!!”) See? I told you everything would work out okay.

Well, at least in Pandyland they will.

PINKY AND THE MEIHEMS

All’s well that ends well, right? RIGHT????

Hey, has everyone heard about the butter sculpture of Justin Trudeau with two panda cubs on his lap? Maybe they can use it to make frosting after the festival is over. Yip and Jip’s second birthdays are just around the corner!

Girls will be girls

Really, Pinky and the Meihems will always be friends, even if their truces seem to be temporary at best. Everyone knows that three girls are a very volatile social structure, especially when two of them are twin sisters. I find it kind of reassuring, that even after all the hubbub at the party, the Pinky and the Meihems can have a nice (mostly) friendly Skype session to rehash the big night.

No harm done, right, girls ???

girls

Everyone knows the party isn’t over till you can sit down and re-hash it!

Why does mommee get so mad …?

Gee, it beats me, Pinky, could it have something to do with…oh…I don’t know, the fact that you tried to poof your little cousins into oblivion? Possibly? Who knows! Maybe she’s just being hormonal or something. Anyway, I’m sure you’ll figure out some way to get out of being grounded before too long. She can’t stay mad forever!

And Poor Bubba! Getting grounded after getting poofed while protecting the little twins! Life just isn’t fair sometimes.

But now, on with the show!

mad

I think I see a slight resemblance to a Pinky tantrum…just saying.

And just look at that smug look on Pinky’s face! She knows she won’t stay in trouble for very long!

Panda on!

And a Fabulous Furry Friday to Yoo Too!

Whew! It’s been a busy birthday season here at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire! It is entirely possible that we’ve had about as many cuppycakes as we can stand (NO! There can NEVER be too many cuppycakes!) So, for this Fabulous Furry Friday we celebrate…

All things CUPPYCAKE!!!!!

Cuppycakes in art!

let there be cake!

31 days

Oh come on…hasn’t that ever happened to you? One minute there are two dozen cuppycakes just sitting there, and the next minute they’re gone?

another cartoon inspired by real news!

Thanks again to Henry Nicholls for alerting me to this story

I have extra frosting!

can’t I have just one more cuppycake?

Well, that was fun! And when I searched for ‘toons about “cake” I found so many that we might have to do this again next week! So until then, remember to:

Stand on your cake
Defend your cake against mommee
Try not to get frosting on your fur.

Panda on and tune in for the next episode of Being Endangered is SUCH a Curse! It’s getting really exciting, huh? Until then, here is a video of a bear playing the piano!

Not so fast, young lady …

Was there any phrase that induced more terror and apprehension, when you thought you had snuck in the house late at night than those five little words: not so fast, young lady …Sigh… Just when you thought maybe you got away with something.

Let’s just take a look at the happy family scene, taking place right now at the National Zoo Panda House…

Bubba: wait! why am i in trubble?

Oh, and one of my personal favorites: Do you know how much trouble you’re in??? Heh!

The power of the POOF meets the power of Bubba

Remember what happened last Wednesday? You don’t? Well, you might want to scroll down past all those cute ‘toons about Six and Sebben, and review last Wednesday’s ‘toon. Go ahead, I’ll wait…  Are we up to date now? Okay then! Not unlike all the people with love and hope in their hearts, and a commitment to inclusion for all people, they are showing up and standing up to the forces of hate and evil. Bubba is standing up to the evil POOF that has emanated from Pinky’s wand. There is power in love and hope, people. We have to believe that.

WE have to believe that there is a place in this country for all people, no matter their religion, their race, their choice of who they love, of who they believe they are. There is no room for hate and exclusion. We are all endangered if the factions that want to harm and exclude those who are considered “other” are allowed to succeed in spreading hate.

I’m betting on the power of Bubba and the power of love…

power

But all the power in the world is nothing compared to the power of Mommee!

See you on Wednesday, for the next exciting episode of Being Endangered is SUCH a Curse!!!
Stay tuned!

From one panda birthday to another!

Bring on the panda birthday cakes!

Panda Trek 2: The Next Generation

As I was looking for ‘toons for this week’s round up, I realized I had not done any of the twins until January of 2017. Partly, I’ve become a little superstitious, and not wanting to do ‘toons about baby pandas until I’m reasonably sure they are healthy, but mostly, I think because I was…um distracted. You know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, onward with the cute baby pandas.

The little gift that keeps on giving!
