Lawyers are in the news lately! Indictments are coming down the pipeline! Who will be next? Could it be MITTENS?????? Alas, that one is probably farther down the line. and besides, he will claim it was Crooked Pinky’s fault! She is the puppet of Pootin! (Oh…you haven’t met Pootin yet? I think he may make an appearance soon.) No one can break The Pinky Defense!

No one, I tell you! The Pinky Defense wins every time!

Oh that Pinky! Trouble seems to follow her like a long streamer of toilet paper stuck to her paw. She would not get in nearly so much rouble if it weren’t for the Meihems yanking her chain and egging her on! If only there was some rational….some defense that she could call on..

Well, we’ll think about it and get back to you on Wednesday.

In the meantime, there’s no trouble like Pinky trouble!

All Pandas Eve part 3

WE are having a little stretch of non rainy weather here in the Northwest corner of Pandyland. Sunny, cool, crisp days, clear cold(-ish) nights. Just the perfect weather for all the little ghouls and goblins as they wander the streets of Langley, offering to trick you if you don’t hand over the treats. (I do NOT want to see a toothbrush in my bag, thank you very much!!!!) Meanwhile, Pinky and the gang are continuing their All Pandas eve festivities.

Well, at least they will until Mommee figures out what they’re up to. On with All Pandas Eve part 3….

Will Pinky EVER quit tormenting her brother?

Meanwhile, I have been continuing my studies by reading from the masters! This time, I’ve been reading some Doonesbury collections, many of which are from years I missed, because I no longer got a newspaper in which Doonesbury appeared. That’s easy to do when his career has stretched for more than 40 years, starting in 1970. I’m sure it affords him no pleasure to know that his observations and warnings on a certain occupant of the White House, went unheeded. Being right does not always afford satisfaction. No, no no!

All Pandas Eve and a Scary Story

I am fortunate to live in the rainy Northwest, rather than fire swept California. My heart and good wishes go out to the thousands of people who have lost their homes and businesses from the fires that spread across northern California last week. Those who have known me for a long time know I have my own fire story, which happened 22 years ago last month. It was a scary event. I don’t know that I ever truly processed what happened, but I was traumatized for a long time.

I recently stumbled on the account of one man’s recent brush with fire in the California disaster. But this account was done in comics form, as he is a graphic novelist/comics artist. Here it is, in case you’d like to take a look. I hope someday I can do as well with my own story.

But meanwhile, we have another kind of scary story to tell!

As we head towards All Pandas Eve …

I used to love All Pandas Eve …all of the little pandas, dressed in their costumes, heading out to trick or treat…maybe to a party…the air crisp and cold as the moon rises or the still visible tree tops and outlines of houses.

Actually, that’s not true. Going out trick or treating for Halloween made me vaguely anxious. I did like have a big bag of candy at the nights end. And that was in the days that you got full size candy bars, not those tiny “snack size” candy bars that you need to eat have a dozen to get a good mouth of chocolate. Ahem.

So let’s forget about all that and join Pinky and the rest of the junior pandas as they ponder what kind of All Pandas Eve costume would scare the crap out of everyone…

Okay. That was just WAY too scary.

The Pinky Defense

What? Being Pinky means always having to say you’re sorry, but…um…rarely doing it. One of my faithful readers from across the pond (you know who you are!) came up with this phrase and I think I’m going to “borrow” it. (I can credit you by name if you’d like, or you can remain anonymous,) but looking back over the last year’s accumulation of ‘toons, I see that, once again, Pinky has hogged the spotlight. So stay tuned early next year as book 8 of The Panda Chronicles goes to print. and I think I’m gonna call it The Pinky Defense.

Because when you know you are in the wrong, is there any better defense than The Pinky Defense?

“It was just a suggestion” Huzzah! It’s the Meihems!

And did somebody mention Book 8 of the Panda Chronicles? Heh! What better time then now to make sure you have books 1 through 7 in your home library. Surely you didn’t think she would totally reform, did you?

Wasn’t that fun? I hope nobody got really scared and threw their popcorn all over the room like…um…some pandas might have.

Oh dear. I was so good whilst I was in China, I had scheduled all my posts in advance, and now that I am home, I have not gotten back in the habit. so apologies for this day’s ‘toon being a few hours later than usual. Just in case you thought that you were not receiving the emails!

…In Which Ping Ping Comes to Live at the Panda House

Everyone who is a fan of Winnie the Pooh stand up and wave your hands in the air. Huzzah! Remember when Kanga and Roo, and then Tigger first came to live in the enchanted forest? “Why has he come, and when is he leaving?” were questions that were bandied about by Certain Intolerant Inhabitants of the forest. (italics courtesy of A A Milne) It’s not all that different at the panda house and I’m pretty sure you might have a very good idea who might feel that way.

I’m still working on adding all my trip notes and pictures to the site, but re-entry to the real world is taking longer, with more moving parts than I had planned for. Regardless, I hope to get some more posts and pictures posted on the Pandatastic Voyage page this week! Stay tuned!

I also used my entire back log of stored ‘toons while I was in China, so I am slowly starting to do an extra ‘toon here and there so that I am NEBBER late with your weekly ‘toons, because I’m just that kind of bear!
