What could be more Fabulous and Furry, but Friday?

It’s Fabulous Furry Friday, once again, coming to you LIVE from The Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire! Yay! Now that John Stewart has retired, does that leave an opening for the Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire to take center stage in the public consciousness?

Nah, we didn’t think so either, but a bear can dream!

Fabulous Furry Friday

It has been Pinky Pinky Pinky all the time around here lately. I do like to give the other pandas a chance to shine, but Pinky is so persuasive! What is a panda satirist supposed to do?

But a news story making the rounds of the panda faithful caught my attention this week, involving not Pinky but her mother! It turns out, that Mei Xiang had a very successful film career, long before Pinky or even Tai Shan was a gleam in their father’s eye. Yes, according to some research done by Pandas International, Mei Xiang (otherwise known as Pinky’s Mommee) was the sneezing baby panda, with over 200,000,000 views on and off youtube.

There will be a response to this news, in the pages of the Panda Chronicles, but not just yet. In the meantime, enjoy these cartoons from the archives for Fabulous Furry Friday!

Fabulous Furry Friday Returns

What would we do without Fridays? That gateway to the weekend and relaxation…or maybe you work weekends or have saved up all the chores you don’t have time for during the week, so really, wouldn’t it be better if you could just sneak back to the office so you could watch panda videos of Fezbook, when you think no one is looking?

Not of course that I am suggesting that you do that. I’m just saying….

OMG It’s Tax Time!

The Panda Revenue Service wants YOU! Because once again, at least in the United S of A, it is tax time, which means hand over that wallet!! Fortunately, the Panda Kindergarten Accounting Service is ready, willing and…um…well, while not exactly able, they do have an adding machine…to help you with your calculations.

They will be looking very closely at the returns of any known cats, as you may well imagine, because …um CATS!!!!!!

Will Bob ever learn? Will Mehitabel ever get the better of the panda kindergarten?

What do you mean there are no chocolate pandas for my Easter basket. Only BUNNIES????? I thought Easter was all about pandas! and how the Easter Panda brings treats to all the good little girls and boys….

What’s Black and White and carries cuppycakes in a basket?

Of course, once certain members of the panda kindergarten came on the scene, the tradition became more of …um…a trick or treat kind of experience.

Fabulous Furry Friday…again!

I am very sorry to tell you of a great tragedy.

Yes, that’s right. Panda Scout cookie Season is over. But it’s not too late for Fabulous Furry Friday to salute the Panda Scout Cookie Drive!

On my honor, I will try…to eat as many cookies as I possibly can….

As you may recall, the Meihem twins are Panda Scouts and have earned many merit badges for such diverse skills as cookie wrangling, sibling rivalry, and hostage taking.

What do you mean “hostage taking” doesn’t have a merit badge? They were very polite.

And who could forget the great Highway Gate incident, when …um…”someone” disrupted traffic to Zoo Cublanta, thus spoiling the sale of the Meihem’s Panda Scout cookies?

Time to call in …Inspector panda!

Don’t you wish you could read the entire Highway-gate Story? You Do? Who you calling fat (Tuesday)?

Yes, it’s Fabulous Furry friday, where we look back at our favorite examples from the Panda Chronicles archives! Huzzah!

This week holds several occasions of note, the first being Fat Tuesday (or as we like to call it around here, Extra Fluffy Tuesday), The Chinese Lunar New Year, and coming up on Sunday, The Academy Awards.

A note about the discrepancy as to whether this is the Year of the Sheep, Goat, or Ram: our friend over at Vsomethingspeaks wrote an excellent essay on just why there is no absolute agreement on this year’s designation. You can read all about it here, as well as get a new delicious sounding recipe! We stand our portrayal of the Year of the Sheep…because…um…pandas in sheep costumes, right?

Recap#10 PandaWriMo approaches!

Yes, it is the month we all wait for all year long, Panda Satire Writing Month, also known as PandaWriMo or 31 Days of Pandas! Huzzah! It is the month when all panda satire writers (I’m sure there must be others, aren’t there?) pull out all the stops and it’s panda, panda, panda all month long.

But before we bring you the next episode of The Case of the Picturesque Panda, we’d like to bring to your attention again, that next Tuesday (one week from today, in fact) has been declared “Giving Tuesday” (don’t ask me who declared this…probably the Associated Amalgamation of Organizations) and our charity of choice is Pandas International. (well, duh!) Buy any of our Panda Chronicle series books or Pandamorphosis from Amazon, and for each book purchased on Tuesday, we will donate $1 to Pandas International.

Because (wait for it) without pandas, there could be no panda satire.

And now, on with our story!

Oh we are getting close to the beginning of 31 days of Pandas and…um…I am hoping to have a spurt of energy in the next couple days…Hmmmm….we’ll see how I do.
