And now, the envelope, please…..

As you can imagine, Babette de Panda was quite disappointed that she was not nominated for an Oscar this year (we hesitate to point out that she did not appear in a new film this year, as she tends to be…um…well, you know).  She did attend the awards ceremony as a presenter, and we were lucky to obtain this footage, from sources that must remain, for obvious reasons, anonymous.

What will Christopher Robin say about this?

Monday, Monday…can’t trust that panda kindergarten!

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite hobbies is complaining about the most recent changes at fezbook, whatever they are.  As usual, the panda kindergarten is involved. What can I say?  They will get into everything, and they still haven’t filled out their new year’s resolution forms.

In honor of our favorite chubby cubbie…..

Bai Yun’s newest offspring, affectionately known as #6, is started to crawl about in anticipation of becoming the latest media celebrity west of the Rockies.

#6 is getting ready to make his move!

Huzzah!….ooops.

It’s Monday!  Time to Be the Bear!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled hilarity for this message

If you are not aware already, the nation’s (well this nation anyway) newest panda ceased to be after only 6 days on the planet.  We send inner pandy thoughts to Mei Xiang, Tian Tian and all the staff at the National Zoo in Washington DC. They should know that the nation’s panda faithful mourn with them.

We know that these things happen…nature knows what it is doing, but it doesn’t make us any less sad.  We will go back to being funny tomorrow.

Till then,

Be the bear.

Huzzah, Huzzah! A Panda is Born!

The pandasphere is buzzing with the news that Mei Xiang of the National Zoo in Washington D.C. has just exceeded expectations and produced a brand new bouncing baby panda!  She has not had a cub since her first little miracle bear 7 years ago, when Tai Shan, darling of the pandaratti, was born.  He  moved to China in January of 2010 and we have been waiting and hoping ever since that Mei would rise to the occasion once again!  Huzzah!

Here’s the thing about panda reproduction:  It’s really kind of tricky.  A female panda is only in season for between 24 and 72 hours in a YEAR, and then you can’t distinguish between a real pregnancy and a pseudo-pregnancy until, HEY! look at that!  there’s a cub!  Top that off with the fact that pandas are really …well…chubby to begin with, and a cub at birth weighs about 1/4 pound.  Could you tell if a panda was preggers just by looking at her?  I don’t think so….

will the pitter patter of little paws soon follow?

Congratulations, once again to Mei Xiang, husband Tian Tian, and of course all the nanny keepers at the National Zoo! It is a happy day indeed.

Meanwhile, back at the Kickstarter ranch, we need at least $434 to make our goal by this thursday at noon.  If you were waiting until the last minute, that last minute is here now!  If only 18 more people pledge $25, the first book of the Panda Chronicles will be a reality!   Huzzah!

This is a day to be the bear!

You may be wondering…..

…about that little box that has a countdown to “Project Launch Day”  (which is at 15 days, even as we speak)

But what does it all mean?

Well, oh lovers of panda satire, it means that I finally have enough panda cartoons to self publish some actual printed books of The Panda Chronicles!

Pandas have long been active in literary pursuits

So, having had one successful Kickstarter project under my belt for a fine art printmaking project, I decided that the time has come to let the pandas take the stage!  Huzzah!

My cunning plan is to make it a fairly modest project, so that if I only get enough funding to do the first book, I will be able to take the time necessary to finish formatting the cartoons for print, do all the book-y stuff that I’ll have to do to make The Panda Chronicles Book 1: Your Brain on Pandas a reality.

But….

If I get overwhelming support, so that I go above and beyond my goal amount, it means that I can do all three books for whichI already have completed cartoons RIGHT NOW THIS VERY MINUTE.

But what can I do to help?”  I hear you all saying in the background?  Well, of course I will be exceedingly grateful to any of you who choose to pledge at whatever level you can afford.  Even a whole bunch of $1 pledges move me closer to my goal (and make me look really popular to the Kickstarter staff.)  But what would help a lot, is if all of you who love panda satire the way we do it here, would tell all your friends about my project.  Now, I’m not launching it for two more weeks, because I still have some pieces of the proposal to get into place, but don’t worry, I’ll remind you.  In the meantime, there are still a few Panda Olympic events that need to happen, so keep tuning in.

Here’s what my project profile picture will be, so you know what to look for….

And of course, the panda kindergarten can’t WAIT to help with this project…..

Huzzah, Huzzah, A bear is born!

We are quite excited to learn that a new panda cub was born to Madame Bai Yun, the queen of panda moms, at the San Diego Zoo yesterday afternoon.  (no midnight vigils for Bai! )

Now if only Mei Xiang and Ya Ya could share in the blessed events….

we are still hoping for a panda cub trifecta

Later this week…the exciting conclusion to the torch bear’s saga!

The first cubbie of the panda birthday season! Huzzah!

Father Ri Ri and Mother Shin Shin have the honor of the first panda of the 2012 panda kindergarten class! They reside at the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo Japan.  Congratulations!  Huzzah!  The panda birthday season has begun!

There’s no season like the birthday season!

I love Paris in the Springggggtime!

Well, the torch bears are at it again.  Will they reach the Olympic Games in London in time? And what does dinosaur flatulence have to do with pandas?  Tune in and see…..

Never underestimate the power of a good “fart joke”

Frommage, indeed!
