Fat Bear Week May Be Over, But There Will Always Be Bears in the Nooz!

Sometimes you read a story about bears in the NooZ, and you think, “that couldn’t be real.” And sometimes you read a story about bears in the NooZ and you think “I HOPE that story is real!” And SOMETIMES you read a story about Bears in the NooZ and you wish it was someone with the last name of Tr**p, particularly ones who sees nothing wrong with shooting innocent wildlife. (which is probably all of them)

This is one of those stories.

It has been a marvelous Festival of Fat Bears once again! Salmon has been eaten, a few fisticuffs broke out at the falls and Some Bears Behaved Badly, but Bears Will Be Bears, you know?

While we wait for the announcement of the victorious bear of Katmai, lets enjoy some of my non-‘toon drawings I’ve done in honor of the chonky bears!

Final voting for the ~~fattest~~ fluffiest bear in Alaska’s Katmai Park takes place this week! We applaud the bears for their relentless acquisition of food as they prepare for their winter’s naps!

I thought it would be fun to revisit some past ‘toons and images of Fat Bear Festival’s past this week (also I am very busy this week so there is that too,)

I’ve been busy trying to keep up with the bears at Brooks falls, so we sent Frank and Mikey up to Alaska to get the low down on the latest NooZ from the Falls!

I would go on and on about the latest Crimes of Mittens™️, but I bet you’d rather see todays >NEW< ‘toon!!!!!

I do love the whole air of festiveness as we head towards the elimination finals in about a month for Fat Bear Week 2026! Will Frank and Mikey make an appearance?

I’m working on some designs for t-shirts and stuff with Frank and Mikey

In keeping with the Fat Bear Week theme, let’s look back through the archives on Frank and Mikey’s last trip to Brooks Falls to visit their old friends…

Uh oh…how much trouble are Frank and Mikey in? Will they be welcome at the Falls this year? I guess we’ll find out!

In the meantime, don’t forget to check your voter’s registration no matter where you live!

Ice Cream Goes with Wedding Cake if You’re a Bear!

There has been a lot of bear defamation in the NooZ lately. Is this sort of: A BEAR WALKS INTO AN ICE CREAM SHOP…or A BEAR EATS A WEDDING CAKE…the kinds of jokes we tell about bears? I mean Fat Bear Week IS a thing, but for the most part, they are eating fish (…yes we KNOW you don’t like fish, Mikey) not ice cream or wedding cake.

Many people have pointed out the various inconsistencies in the alleged photo of a bear supposedly eating a wedding cake, but if the bear was Mikey, well, I think you might have to re-examine the evidence…

So, obviously I am “with” the bears” in the best sense of the words, that is, watching them chow down on donuts, ice cream and wedding cake, and looking through the archives to find some suitable Encore presentations for you while I finish ~~today’s~~ the next ‘toon.
