Those darn cats!

Oh this is so traumatic! I hate to upset the wu self, but a writer has gotta do what a writer’s  gotta do. No one ever said it would be pretty.

Meanwhile, you could head over to Pandyland at Cafe Press and show your support for the Wu-self this holiday season!

Happy Birthday To You!

Well, this may be a first for The Panda Chronicles.

You know how people who are born on holidays like Christmas or 4th of July always complain that no one ever really celebrates their birthday because..um…MAJOR HOLIDAY!!!!!DUH!!!!

So, think about what it means to be born on what is probably the most infamous day in recent American history (and I don’t mean the day that the Supremes appointed George W. President) Yeah, I am talking about the ultimate conversation stopper. What if your birthday is on September 11th? Let me put that another way, in case you missed the reference.

What if your birthday was on 9/11?

Well, that just happens to be the case for one of The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire’s most faithful followers, a young woman from my home town of Phillie PA. so in honor of your birthday, we bring you….

A Salute to Cake! Happy Birthday, Cami Taylor!!!!!

Well, apparently, much to my surprise, I could go on and on with cartoons of pandas and cakes, but I won’t!

Happy birthday, once again Cami….be sure to…um…have some cake. How did I know about this? Let’s just say that small pandas have big mouths. I’m looking at YOU, Emperor Pew! ( see article: When good pandas go bad!) Thanks for alerting me to the news that there is something to celebrate about 9/11. That Bamboo Psychic network is really something!

Fabulous Furry Friday!

It’s Friday! and it is Fabulous and Furry!

I had mixed feelings about making any kind of commentary about the death murder of Cecil the lion. I have friends and acquaintances who hunt for food, but killing a living creature just to put his head on the wall seems so very wrong in so many ways. I couldn’t find anything to make a lighthearted cartoon about, because, as John Stewart  accurately said after the murder of 9 people in a South Carolina church  recently. “There’s just nothing funny about this.” But the pandas all gathered around me, and reminded me of this important concept, and so I did a drawing in tribute to the endangered among us, on two feet as well as four.

We R All Endangered.

And now, on with our regularly scheduled pandas….News from the panda front in San Diego is a little sad, but not totally unexpected. Bai Yun is 24 years old and they decided to give her one more chance to have another cub, as hormonally she was…um…ready. The SDZ folks announced today that Bai Yun is not Pregnant.

I’m sure in some ways, both she and Mr Wu are relieved. The Wu self gets to remain her baby boy forever, and given his attitude about cute cub proliferation, he is probably especially relieved.

Mr Wu tries to take charge

Uh oh. All is not well in Pandyland!

Hope you are having a wonderful summer, and not burning in a raging brush or forest fire. Or experiencing earthquakes or tsunamis. Or anything bad. Just saying.

PS: notice how I didn’t say anything about the #GOPdebate last night.

EEEEExuberant pandas!

Yes, it is day five of the most excellent A to Z challenge.

Enquiring minds explore excellent edifices and endeavor to educate enthusiasts. Ever exciting events are in Evidence.

EEEEEEEEEE! It’s the panda kindergarten! We shall endure. And as we had earlier engaged to exhibit the essence of the cast of the Panda Chronicles….

Our enfant` egomaniac, that paragon of perfection, Princess Pinky, currently the youngest panda on The Panda Chronicle stage.

Pinky answers difficult questions from the press in her own way.

The engaging Bee (the bear):

Bee (the Bear) believes in…

…becoming a barnstormer, being the bear (oh, that was too easy) in a bucolic backdrop. Is this a case of bears behaving badly or a bitty beastie who believes she’s a bee, rather than a bear, as she builds a bastille of books, so she can become one with….(tune in tomorrow)???????

Meanwhile, today has been brought yo you by the letter “B(ee)”

Bee-lieve!

Bee-lieve!

And lest the Princess Pinky Bao Bao be offended that she was biffed out of her weekly spot by Bee (the Bear), here is one of her favorite cartoons, especially for you folks who are visiting The Panda Chronicles for the first time:

Bao bao changes panda cub gender

Pinky is VERY powerful. Be afraid, be very afraid, Mr Wu.

And speaking of the letter “B”, how could I forget Babette de Panda?

All My Pandas......

All My Pandas……

Oh, the A to Z challenge is so much fun! One of the bloggers I read regularly, The Art of Not Getting Published, is also participating.  You can check out her posts here. I’m going to  highlight another of my compatriots (or three) in the A to Z each day, so do check them out, because they are panda-approved.

Till tomorrow,

Day 31: It’s a WUnderful Life – Episode Nine

Oh my! It is not only the last episode of Mr Wu’s most recent adventure, but it is the last day of the year, and even more importantly, the last day of 2013’s 31 Days of Pandas!!!!! Huzzah.  Well, not Huzzah! that daily pandas are coming to an end, but Huzzah! that I managed not to miss a single day of NEW cartoons, every stinkin’ day!

Huzzah! Here are some 31 Days of Pandas statistics that I find interesting in my own pandy little way: There are 245 (plus or minus a panda here and there) drawings of pandas within these 31+ drawings. That is more than an 800% increase over the original year of 30 days of pandas.  (someone might want to check my math on that one.)  There was an average of over 1500 page views per week during the month. Huzzah!  I know that’s not quite the big leagues, but it sure beats the heck out of the early days when 10 views was a really big day for the pandas.

There is much panda-ing in store for 2014. Pandas kept me going through 2013, which quite frankly, felt like a year long Friday the 13th, if you want to know the truth. But enough about that! Let’s have the final episode of It’s a WUnderful Life!

It's a Wonderful Life, parody

Yay! The heartwarming schmoopy ending!

And here’s a little bonus, especially for those of you who have joined the panda fun here at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire recently: The Panda Kindergarten’s New Year’s Eve!

new years eve party, panda kindergarten

The panda kindergarten at their best…or is that worst?
