Day 24: T’was the night before Crispmoss

T’was the night before Crispmoss
and all through the den,
not a panda was eating
one cupcake or ten,

When up in the Hemlock
there rose such a yell,
“if that was a joke,
you can all go to…”

“Now Pinky come down here,
and watch that bad talk!
That ouchie wire’s there
’cause you’re not ‘spposed to walk

So close to the fence,
now come down from that tree!
I am your mother,  you
must listen to me!”

But Pinky stayed up in
her favorite tree.
Her mother, she pleaded,
“It’s a quarter past three.

The keepers should all be
home snug in their beds,
and me with a fruitie,
now mind what I said!”

But little miss Pinky
She took her sweet time,
And that is the end
of my little rhyme.

In memory of last year’s Occupy Hemlock, Christmas Eve sit in by the real life Princess Pinky. Dedicated to all panda keepers, all around the world.

And now, On the Fourth Day of Crispmoss…

four pandas sneaking...

four pandas sneaking…

...and a Pinky in a Hemlock tree!

…and a Pinky in a Hemlock tree!

Be the Bear. You’ve been very, very good, haven’t you? Then maybe Pandy Claws will bring you something wonderful, Like pandas to Seattle!

Day 23: All I Want for Christmas is…

Yes, it is the third day of Crispmoss, but I have to digress for a moment, because yesterday, news crossed my screen, thanks to alert panda fan Kalpana Kanal, who notified me that serious discussions were happening between people who can do things in Washington State, and the people who own all the pandas in China. (Editors note: I rejected the article from the Seattle Times, as it was headlined: High Maintenance Pricey Pandas sought for Washington State. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that the least little bit biased against pandas? I must protest!)

Yes! People other than me want to bring pandas to Washington State!!!!!

Which of course brings to mind my cartoon of at least six years ago, about bringing pandas to Seattle:

Woozppah!

Woozppah!

yes!

yes! It’s all I want for christmas

The time is NOW to join with me and all of us here at The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire, and say WOOZPPAH! NOW* (*also spelled WOOZPAH: WOOdlandparkZooProjectPanda) Let’s see if we can get #WOOZPPAH to trend on Twitter! The initials PNW will no longer stand for Pacific NorthWest, but will now be known as Pandas NorthWest! Huzzah!

So who is the crazy person NOW???

And now, on with the Third Day of Crispmoss…

I swear, I had nothing to do with Pinky's let night sit in.

I swear, I had nothing to do with Pinky’s late night sit in.

Remember, it’s Christmas eve EVE tonight. Tell Santa, all we want for Christmas are a couple of Pandas for Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. I don’t want anything else and I’ve been very, very good!

Be the Bear,

Day 21: The Twelve Days of Crispmoss

Fa-la-la-la-la-la! It’s time for The Twelve Days of Crispmoss!

On the first day of Crispmoss the panda cam did see….

Everybody sing!

Everybody sing!

Meanwhile pandas have been sneaking around the internet, getting into all sorts of things! Firstly, they made a visit to Cordelia’s Mom, Still, and talked about their newest offering, The Panda Chronicles Coloring Book. Then, in the hopes it would inspire us to get back to work on The Panda Chronicles Cuppycake Cookbook: Favorite recipes of the Panda Kindergarten, I submitted the first recipe to the fabulous website, They Draw & Cook. Appropriately, It is Princess Pinky’s Cuppycake recipe! You can find it via this link and also in the “recently added recipes” section. I’ve been following this website for several hearts, because:
1. food
2. art
3. seriously cool people.

I hope you’ll check them out.

Meanwhile, here are a few other ‘toons to get your week off to a good start.

On the 10th, 11th, and 12th Day of Crisp-Moss:

Yes,  and technically speaking, 31 Days of Pandas is over, but as I ran out of month before I ran out of verses, (and certain, shall we say, impatient, members of our audience wanted us to just get on with it and post the whole darn thing) we bring you the last three days of Crisp-Moss all at once.

Huzzah!

Doesn’t that feel good?

I’m starting to look at what the New Year will bring, and I have plans and resolutions as regards The Institute of Contemporary Panda Satire. One thing I really must do is to get better about sending out a monthly newsletter. So many people have signed up to receive news of panda satire, and I have been really falling down on the job. It means that I have to reassess how much time I spend on various social media. I’ll still be there but maybe not quite as much, and it will be when I’ve gotten all my other work done. Once upon a time, I didn’t even have internet access at home, and still maintained The Panda Chronicles.

How did I do it? heck if I can remember, but do it, I did, and now I must take myself in paw, because I have big plans for next year, which I will start letting you in on in my newsletters, which i swear I will start writing any day now.

The 12 Days of Crisp-moss will be wrapping up on New Year’s Day, which means you will get three days worth of panda fun in one day. After that, I will take a short break and return on Sunday, January 4th with a brand new cartoon, and then return to my pre-31 days of pandas schedule  of new ‘toons on Sundays and Wednesdays, with a encore presentation on Fridays.

Do continue to alert me to panda news or any other news story of the absurd that you think might have an application in panda satire. Use the form on the contact us page to be sure the comment gets to me. Or just use it to say “hello” or “I think you are the most brilliant cartoonist to walk the face of the earth since Bill Watterson retired.” Or something like that.

Once again, I wish you peace, happiness, health, and pandas in the new year. Thank you all for being the bears. May your inner pandas rejoice in the wonders of life, and may you always have enough cuppycakes to share.

Be the Bear,
Bob T. Panda

On the 6th Day of Crisp-Moss…

On the 6th Day of Crisp-Moss, my panda cam did see…

Is everybody singing? Has your spouse/significant other/roommate/threatened you yet, if you don’t stop singing that silly song?

Just checking.

Be the (singing) Bear,
Bob T. Panda

PS: just a reminder that there are only 3 more days to have your Panda Chronicles Books purchases (and Pandamorphosis) result in a donation for Pandas International! We love all the work that PI does for pandas! Remember, without real pandas, panda satire wouldn’t be funny!
