Announcing the World’s FIRST PandaRama!

The pandarama

As if I don’t have enough to do, today I invented the world’s first Pandarama!  Why?  I say, why not? After all, what could be better than multiple layers of pandas in the round, as it were?  This impressive bit of cutting and pasting was actually inspired by a real art historical phenomenon. I am of course speaking of Mesdag’s Panorama, which still exists in the Hague in Holland.  Mesdag was a late 19th century painter with enough family money to have a lovely little mansion in the Hague which is now a jewel box of a museum.  He got this idea to make a giant painting in the round, of the seashore, and got a bunch of his artist pals to join him in painting this big circular painting in a building where it still resides today. On walking up the stairs, you find yourself in a large circular room, and you are at the beach!  There is sand and everything.

I don’t know that I will make a pandarama that you can walk into, but I will make more. It’s just way too fun.

Here come the Torch Bears!!!!!

Did the Torch Bears take a wrong turn????

Working on the assumption that it is never too early to be premature, the Torch Bears are starting their Olympic journey now!  Unfortunately it seems they got their instructions crossways, and were under the impression that the crowds gathered at Westminster Cathedral were there to see them off on their journey rather than to attend the Royal Wedding.  Oops! Well, gosh… who doesn’t love pandas???

Be the Bear!

OK HERE is the real deal, Pandas in the news!

Pandas Are in the news these days, between The National pandas getting their contract renewed, (not to mention Mei Xiang being “in the mood, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?), videos of twin pandas in spain, and a video I just saw, courtesy of “Panda News” of a panda cub climbing over his mother’s head, falling off the other side, and then climbing back over  again…wheeeeeeee!  Well, is there no end to panda fun?  I think not!

More From Bob’s Year in Review!

Last February, we endured the traumatic repossession of Tai Shan, american panda.  Tai was born in the National Zoo in Washington DC in 2006 (please correct us if we are wrong) and was recalled to the panda reserve in China.  So what was that all about?  I mean, he didn’t even speak chinese, for crying out loud!  It was our understanding that he was not allowed to bring his big screen color TV and his 17″ laptop computer. because the other pandas would be “jealous.”  And, he has to share a room. I ask you, is this fair?

Well, that all the year in review for now. Till next time,

Be the Bear!

Lun Lun Does it Again!

Pandas everywhere are rejoicing!  A new baby panda was born at the Atlanta Georgia Zoo!  Thanks to the dedicated and diligent panda-philes at Panda News, we are alerted to a new  US Panda! (China has taken note and the increased rental bill is in the mail!)  What is of great excitement to all of us at Way Better Than Working, is that this panda is a SCORPIO, which is very unusual for pandas, most pandas being of the Leo or Virgo persuasion.   We at WBTW are in the midst of OUR birthday season, so of course we are extra excited!  What a great occasion for Cake!
