The Next Installment of The Wizard of Wu!

Yes, we are repeating that October tradition of re-running The Wizard of Wu, one of my favorite Wu stories! I remember as a kid, before you could watch whatever you wanted when ever you wanted, that we would wait for the annual re-broadcast of The Wizard of Oz. The flying monkeys always scared the crap out of me, but I had to watch. what if Dorothy didn’t get away from the witch this time? What if Toto ran off and never came back?

If you missed the first installment of The Wizard of Wu last week, You can catch up here before you read today’s installment!

And now, on with the show!

Mr Wu landas in the cuppycake region of pandyland in this episode of his new adventure

Don’t I know you from somewhere?

Mehitabel would like to register her protest about given the least sympathetic role in this adventure.

Xiao Liwu has to journey to see the wizard

Okay, now it’s getting exciting! Scary parts dead ahead!

Mr Wu meets up with someone who looks a lot like his brother, shortly after setting out on his journey

I have a bad feeling about this….

Mr Wu hears a cry for help

Are you SURE there will be no flying monkeys?

The wicked cat of the west attacks Mr Toasty

That cat is pure evil!

Oh No! What is going to happen next!!!???!!!

Tune in next Sunday for the conclusion to The wizard of Wu! (and during the week for the latest impeachment scandals!)

Panda On!

Oh wonderful Wu. How I wish I was a Panda right now. For the last few days (or has it been weeks?) I have been so angry, no, livid, about the wantonly criminal acts happening in D.C, that I think I am going mad. I can only read the news for a few minutes before losing it and sending angry tweets to HWMNBN and his partners in crime. As a avid reader of WW II history and what led up to it I am appalled and petrified that we are headed in the same direction. I need to re-read The Book of Wu again just to calm down enough to be able to function. Thank you for helping to keep me sane. 💖💖💖💖

Yes, WW2 has long been a fascination of mine, in that “can’t look away from the train wreck” kind of way. It has long been my belief that The Wizard of Oz is a fascist/Nazi parable, so re-running the Wizard of Wu is appropriate for these times we find ourselves in. The news gets worse every day, and I’m trying to not immerse myself too much or too often, but as you say, it’s hard to look away.
My early psyche was quite traumatized by reading Diary of Anne Frank too young, and it has been the template for my nightmares, ever since. I hope it does not come to that. Hold onto your seats, and look to pandas for relief as needed. I’ll do what I can in that department.

I must confess I never read Diary of Anne Frank. For me it was the 1974 mini series QB VII that showed some of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen. I went outside and sat down and sobbed for a long time. I was already mistrustful of humans because of an abusive Father, but seeing that started me on the path of a truth seeker and student of history. Which is why HWMNBN’s lies are so egregious.

I would not recommend reading it right now. Along with Handmaid’s Tale, 1984, Plot Against America (Phillip Roth); anything dystopian. We are living in the middle of them. It is astounding to me, that so many people either don’t know, ignore, or think they will come out on top of the authoritarian histories of the 20th century. There are days I can’t believe we have gotten to this place.
My cousin in law Bill’s family (some of it, anyway) escaped to England ahead of the Nazis. I miss him, but am glad he and my cousin Ruth are not alive to see this. They would be horrified.
