I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen this with my own eyes! A Panda in the Useless Bay Coffee Shop! I’m so excited I can hardly concentrate! Thanks to Ellen for taking this photo.

Be the (excited) Bear!
Whilst I was pandaing around this last year, I noticed that there was a need for more books about pandas! For the last several years, we here at Way Better Than Working have been completely obsessed about, well, pandas. Bob T’s book, Going Panda, was well received among reviewers of books written by pandas, but pretty much no one else. Hopefully, it’s re-release at next years Pandapalooza! will bring a wider readership.
till then,
be the Bear!

Well, I have to admit that my pulse races a little when I hear music from the Nutcracker ballet at christmas time, and apparently the panda kindergarten class is similarly inspired. Coincidently, it is the third anniversary of my pandapiphany, when I first renewed my commitment to pandas. The pandas were quietly and patiently biding their time, until I remembered their existence. They came along at just the right time to renew my spirits. I am reminded of a popular song from the 70’s, paraphrased (or massacred, depending on your point of view):
When I find myself in times of trouble
Many pandas come to me,
Speaking words of whimsey,
Play with me, play with me.
Panda on,

And a Pandy New Year!

Last February, we endured the traumatic repossession of Tai Shan, american panda. Tai was born in the National Zoo in Washington DC in 2006 (please correct us if we are wrong) and was recalled to the panda reserve in China. So what was that all about? I mean, he didn’t even speak chinese, for crying out loud! It was our understanding that he was not allowed to bring his big screen color TV and his 17″ laptop computer. because the other pandas would be “jealous.” And, he has to share a room. I ask you, is this fair?
Well, that all the year in review for now. Till next time,
Be the Bear!

Ok, ok, I know we’ve used this one before, but give us a break, It’s Christmas Eve and all the little pandas are snug in their dens.
We are dreaming of cookies and figgy pudding (with bamboo garnish, of course) We hope everyone is safe and warm and with someone they love. Have a safe and happy holiday season, and remember:
1. Don’t talk on your mephone while driving.
2. Cats are not a s bad as they seem.
3. Pandas are suitable for all occaisions.
and last, but certainly not least,
4. BE THE BEAR!!!!!!!

There is a series of photos making the rounds and several alert panda fans have sent it to us here at Way Better Than Working enterprises. It shows a pandologist dressed up as a panda, holding a toddler panda. How cute is THAT????? Keep those cards and letters (and emails) coming! We can never get enough news about my panda cousins! Mehitabel is a bit reluctant to get in touch with her “pandish” side, for some strange reason. After all, you should never say no to a panda.
we are still very excited to have figured out how to get these posts onto my in-your-facebook page. One small step for bears, one giant leap for pandas!
Be the Bear!
