There is no amount of procrastination that can’t wait until tomorrow…..

Recently TWO generous (and, may I say astute?) readers of The Panda Chronicles have bestowed the Versatile Blogger Award on me, and I have been MOST negligent in fulfilling all the requirements of the office.  I really have no excuse, other than that I have been busy drawing new panda cartoons, and the panda kindergarten hid my laptop.  I think they have been watching panda videos on YouTube and then used the power cord to tie Bob up in the basement.

According to the rules of the Versatile Blogger Award, I must:

  1.  Thank the award-giver and link back to them in your post.
  2.  Share 7 things about yourself.
  3.  Pass this award along to seven others.
  4.  Contact your chosen bloggers to let them know about the award.

Right now I have two different people to thank and do all the other stuff, so I am going to multitask and combine these two award.  What are you going to do? take it back?  First I need to thank hungry4momos at http://stowawaytrain.com/2011/12/28/the-versatile-blogger-award-merry-christmas-to-me/ because, well, she nominated me first.  And then, before I even finished all this WORK I now had to do, Then The Rubbe at http://therubbe.wordpress.com/2012/01/11/were-famous/ went and gave it to me AGAIN.

Ok, so…thanks.  Don’t do it again. (Just kidding…It’s kind of like being prom queen, except I don’t have to wear a dress.)  ( Now could someone give me “The Humorous Blogger Award?”)

My favorite part is coming up with 7 things that people might not know about me, so here goes:

1.  I like to watch movies where lots of things blow up, usually after a very destructive car chase.

2.  Mehitabel is a real, actual cat.  She REALLY doesn’t like pandas.

3.  The panda kindergarten is the expression of my deepest, inner self.

4.  I have actually seen “the Nixon Pandas”  (look it up).

5.  In addition to cuppycakes, I am particularly fond of those little pink and white frosted animal crackers.

6. I do “voice overs” when watching panda videos, where I do dramatic presentations of what I think the pandas are saying.

7.  I am not really a panda.

In the interest of further procrastination, I will nominate my versatile bloggees um…later.  OK?

Well, you read this far, you should get a cartoon, so here it is!

Well, it is an election year!

Hooray! Day 19… I think I’m going to make it!

day 19 30 pandas

Well, now we know why the tightrope walking panda was not smiling!  I’m almost POSITIVE that the pandas have not eaten the cake and that it will show up at the last minute.   I hope that they have a good grip on the cake and are not fooling around with it.  Is this foreshadowing?  Hmmmm…..Maybe.

Here come the Torch Bears!!!!!

Did the Torch Bears take a wrong turn????

Working on the assumption that it is never too early to be premature, the Torch Bears are starting their Olympic journey now!  Unfortunately it seems they got their instructions crossways, and were under the impression that the crowds gathered at Westminster Cathedral were there to see them off on their journey rather than to attend the Royal Wedding.  Oops! Well, gosh… who doesn’t love pandas???

The Cruelty of Technology

While we at Way Better Than Working subscribe to the philosophy, “technology when it suits us,” we think things have gone WAY too far!!!!  The other day we heard a report on NPR (that’s National Panda Radio, in case you’ve forgotten) which talks about the new generation of…gasp… I can hardly say the word…bathroom scales.  We, of course, threw ours out years ago, because it interfered with our devotion to cuppycakes, so imagine our horror when we heard that they had come out with a scale thast could post the results directly to twitter.  Is there no end to the dastardlyness of inventors of new gizmos and gadgets?  What IS a panda to do?

Be the Bear, of course!

Cuppycakes, anyone?

National Panda Radio is coming!!!!!

Now is my chance!  I, Bob T. Panda, will seize control of A Prairie Home Companion, change the name to A PANDA Home Companion and become world famous! And Rich! And have all the cake I want!  It was just announced that Garrison Keillor is retiring in 2 short years…just enough time to stage a panda takeover of public radio, (which shall forthwith be known as national PANDA radio) and rule the world.  I mean, if it’s O.K. with you, that is.

A tribute to Peanuts, or, Mehitabel looks for work!

I was recently reading a collection of Peanuts cartoons from 1955- 1956.  On reading the endnotes, I discovered that yesterday, February 12, is the 11th anniversary of Charles Schulz’s death in 2000.  Re-reading those old comics, I was reminded of the debt that most contemporary cartoonists owe to Mr. Schulz.  Among the many personal obligations that I owe, is Lucy’s penchant for emphatic and confident mis-information, which has bestowed much on Bob T. Panda.  I’m sure there is much more, but I’d like to think that I might have at least one original thought in my head. I am eternally grateful.  And Mr. Schulz, if you’re watching from somewhere in the universe, I hope you are pleased with the generations of cartoonists you have inspired.  And one more thing, Be the Bear!

Will Mehitabel find a new job?  Will the panda kindergarten behave? Will there be cake?  For the answer to these questions and more, tune in again next week!

Cuppycake Redux

Ok, here is the real cuppycake cartoon (as opposed to Cake Panda) with the dedication intact. My home computer seems to have healed itself while I was out for a few hours, so all is well.  I did catch up with my backing up of new cartoons, writings, and artwork, and I swear that I will do it faithfully from now on. No, really.

In totally unrelated news, did you know Vermont has named a Cartoonist Laureate? How cool is that?
