Pinky in Wonderland 3

I hardly know what to say. We seem to be descending into a place I never thought we’d go as a country. I plan to head out to our nearest march on Saturday to protest the latest crimes against human (and panda) rights.

And speaking of descending….

Here’s our next episode of Pinky In Wonderland!

Was that Mr. Bun????

Will Pinky follow Mr. Bun? And where did Mr. Bun go? Tune in Sunday for episode 4 of Pinky in Wonderland!

I know it seems like things are especially bleak, and TBH, they are. But all is not lost, as long as we can still vote. I hope you all are checking your registration to make sure it’s current, calling your representatives, and getting out and voting. While the separation of refugee families is dire, the R’s are going to town with trying to take away health care and women’s reproductive rights. The occupant of the WH has successfully banned Muslims (from countries without a tRump hotel or other business interests), all the while reportedly stuffing his pockets and selling the presidency as his latest brand. I hope to see you at one of the marches and then at the voting booth in November.

And a reminder: Don’t be the person who doesn’t speak out against injustice because they haven’t come for you yet.

Can I have EXTRA extra whipped cream?

Pinky in Wonderland 2 and then some….

Helloooo panda fans! I know that many of you are not only panda satire fans, but also fans of Democracy, Freedom, and Justice for All. After today’s feature presentation, I have some information on how you can help the folks who are struggling to keep their families together as they cross the border.

But first, here is Episode 2 of Pinky in Wonderland!!!!

wonderland

Pinky: mommee is making jokes again!

So…here’s my idea…

You might remember last year when I did a fund raiser promotion to raise money for the ACLU and Planned Parenthood, by giving away some panda satire stuff. I’d like to do another fundraiser to help families at the border, who are facing arrest, detention, and the loss of their children.

But I need to do it a little differently this time. I won’t bore you (or lay out any guilt trips) with the state of my finances, but lets just say pickings have been a little slim. An artists life can be precarious and that is just a fact.

So….

In Friday’s post, I shared 6 classic toons from the beginnings of The Panda Chronicles, including the classic Cake Panda (my personal favorite)

let there be cake!

So here’s the deal:

  1. I would like to make the original framed ‘toons available for purchase at the regular price of $500, including US shipping. (an extra $50 for non-US addresses)
    2.  Of this $200 should be sent directly to the children’s border relief charity of your choice.
    3. Once you have done this, email me at yourbrainonpandas@gmail.com proof of charitable contribution, along with your mailing address. Then you can deposit the additional $300 to my PayPal account (this covers shipping, framing, and some support for panda satire!)
    4. I will then pack and mail your original ‘toon to you.

Remember, there is only one of each as these are the originals. If you would like to participate, contact me via the contact form so that I can reserve your original ‘toon for you. I will update availability during the week. In the event that I am away from my email (it does happen!) I will respond in order of email receipt. Use Friday June 22nd post to see the available ‘toons.

And if this is beyond your current financial situation right now, I urge you to make whatever donation you can to one of the organizations helping people at the border, and also to show up at the closest March to you on Saturday June 30th 2018. In the meantime, be kind, be kind, be kind. Speak out against injustice. It’s the panda way.

Pinky in Wonderland: Episode 1

Huzzah!

Our new feature presentation is finally here. (Or at least the introduction to it!) I should alert you that there may be a few interruptions in the narrative as we go along, but never fear, when I get around to compiling it into a book (heh!) it will all be together! I’ll save today’s diatribe till after today’s ‘toon, so you can stop reading before you get there if you are so inclined.

And now, on with the show!!!!

wonderland

Curiouser and curiouser…

And now for today’s political/social/human rights diatribe…

The policy of taking children from their families as they are attempting to cross the border is inhumane, not to mention cruel, and often is cruelly carried out, and the main purpose seems to be to use it as a bargaining chip in order for He Who Has no Shame to get funding and approval for his border wall. How this extortion and hostage taking is anywhere close to legal, I just don’t know. For those who are in a position to donate money to organizations that are helping these folks, I would encourage you to do so. Just be sure to do a little research on the organizations that are taking donations. (Nothing like a crisis to bring the vultures out of the woodworks. Ask a trusted source and do your research.) You generally can’t go wrong with the ACLU and check in with The Southern Poverty Law Center. Both these organizations do good work in protecting those with few protections. I think there are some working specifically with this issue.

I’m not generally a praying type of person, but I’m making an exception here, and praying that this situation gets resolved before any of these kids are seriously hurt or worse. The lifelong trauma caused by separation during childhood will be long lasting and more than bad enough. This will not end well, unless it ends very quickly, and I don’t have a lot of hope for this. Our dictator in chief has no heart and no empathy. Keep speaking out, calling your representatives and senators, and support relief efforts if you can.

We shall overcome.
