Ya know, we can always count on Nixon’s Ghost to point out that Mittens is FAR worse than he ever was. It is also useful to remember that at least 38 people from the Nixon administration were convicted for various forms of electoral hanky panky after the whole Watergate thingie. And a bunch of them actually went to prison, too.
Just sayin’, ya know?

Could Nixon’s ghost please pay a nocturnal visit to Mittens and offer him some guidance on appropriate diplomatic strategies that don’t involve cuss words, insults and bombs? Or maybe Pat’s ghost needs to visit Malaria and persuade her to glom onto some adorable endangered creature from the Middle East and save the day.
Pat’s Ghost is afraid of Malaria and doesn’t want to visit. Nixon’s ghost knows that trying to tell Mittens anything is a lost cause. Besides, in his day, Nixon liked a good cuss word as well as the next criminal.
I visited the Nixon Presidential Library in January. It was fairly balanced and didn’t sugarcoat the tapings in the Oval Office and the Watergate breakin. As a 43 year first FONZ employee then behavior watch volunteer at the National Zoo when I got to the China visit I cursed Pat Nixon for her remarks at the state dinner as it really affected my life. Vietnam was the surprising section as yes I remember as a kid the escalation into Cambodia and Laos. What I didn’t remember was that Nixon campaigned on reducing the numbers of American troops….which he did. And in addion to the founding of the EPA he also signed the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Act both of which are reflected in a pool at the museum with beautiful bas relief sculptures of whales, dolphins and seals.
The Endangered Species Act was another reason pandas have a soft spot for Nixon. I forgot he was responsible for the Marine Mammals Act. Thanks for stopping in to tell us about this. Is the Library in California? It would be interesting, since Nixon’s time in office was during my high school and early college years, the beginning of my political consciousness, as it were.
