Move Along, Nothing to See Here

There wasn’t anything important happening today, was there?

I definitely considered not posting anything today, being the day that democracy almost went down the golden toilet, but then I decided we needed a little humor along with remembering that day, one year ago, it could have ended up a whole lot worse.

At this point, it is good to remember that the Republican Party didn’t think that shooting and killing 20 school children and their teachers was a sufficient reason to institute any kind of gun control, so why would we think that if members of Congress had been killed, that the GQP would have had any qualms about about tossing democracy in the dumpster.

I watched the commemoration of the anniversary as I worked today. Combined with the new information that has been released and what I watched in real time, it is clear that we came this ][ close to living under a vindictive dictator.

As I watch the GQP attempt to dismantle democracy, defund public libraries, constrain what teachers can teach their students, dismantle women’s reproductive rights, and deny a global pandemic, not to mention TFG’s role in allowing it to rage out of control and causing the deaths of almost a million Americans, I have to wonder what they think they will ultimately gain.

One thing you learn living on an island, is that everything is connected and we are all dependent on each other. Every once in a while I think about what would happen if the ferries stopped running and the bridge went down. within a week (probably less) we’d be out of gas, grocery store shelves would be stripped clean, and once the first wind storm hit, we’d lose electric power and we’d would descend into anarchy. The mainland could probably survive for about 2 weeks till it all went to shit.

Well…that took a dark turn…

What do you say we cut the first rant of the year short and get to the new ‘toon?

Nixon’s Ghost has some feelings

I promise we’ll have more fun here at The Panda Chronicles this year. Just maybe not today!

I’ll never forget that day and the horror of watching it unfold live on tv. Bob and I were STUNNED wondering how this could happen in our once great country and the answer was and is: TRUMP and his lies. I hope that horrible day was a “wakeup” call to voters. EVERY VOTE COUNTS! and we simply cannot believe in someone like Trump who lies as easily as he breathes.

It is really hard to wrap my head around the fact that it happened and I watched it on TV. (It turns out that the revolution WAS televised!) We should all say a whole bunch of prayers for Marc Elias and all the work he is doing to protect voting rights. It is a scary world we now find ourselves in. It is only our “good” fortune that things under TFG weren’t worse than they were. I try not to think about if we had not had a pandemic or if he had not done such a terrible, criminal job of dealing with it, we could have a second Mittens term. I think I need a very strong booting, just at the thought of it.

Seething. Sigh. I keep wondering what these so-called-“patriots” think would happen if they actually do overthrow our government. Do they think the economy with just keep chugging along? Do they think their lifestyle will remain the same? Many of the fools on that day were small business owners. Do they think that doing away with all regulations and government entities will maintain their way of life? Do the think that the police state their Orange Cult Leader wants won’t turn on them once it is in power? To call these people gullible idiots is an insult to every idiot who stood on this planet and said idiotic things. LIVID BEYOND BELIEF.

Not to mention that our health care “system” and hospitals are on the verge of collapse. Every time we have a power outage I am reminded of my lack of preparation and resiliency to cope with a world without modern conveniences. I really LIKE indoor plumbing! I like showers and clean laundry and hot coffee. I am not prepared for a Hunger Games dystopia.
Sigh…When those morons realize they will run out of gas for their huge trucks it will be too late. I am definitely rooting for the comet.

Sigh… again. It seems that only a comet or meteor will stop the stupidity and destructiveness of our species. It hurts because all the other amazing species on this planet did not deserve us . Tonight I need a stiff drink. P.S. I’m going to do a redo of the honey and this time pack it properly.

OOH! I’m almost out of your wonderful honey. Do you need any of my heirloom bubble wrap collection? I was going to send you a little something and I could pack it with lots of bubble wrap.

LOL In your honor I’ve been collecting bubble wrap to the point that I can no longer find the closet door in my plant/spare room. I hate the idea of tossing it and I know the recycling chain is pretty broken. It’s the styrofoam packing peanuts I get sometimes that I wish would be banned. I’ll give you a tracking number when I ship (hopefully soon). I lost one of my two colonies last year so I won’t have much honey this year :(. But I still have quite a stockpile.

The owner of one of the galleries I used to show at would mock me for my heirloom bubble wrap collection. I treasure every bubble! Sorry about your lost colony. Every bee is precious too.
