Bei Bei Turns One Year Old!

Bei Bei, better known here in these pages as Bubba, Pinky’s beleaguered little brother, turns one year old next week! There is a party for him on Saturday August 20th (two days before his actual birthday on the 22nd). Bei Bei is a much loved panda, as you can read in this article written around the time of his public debut back in January.

But I promised you a slew of Bubba ‘toons to celebrate his birthday season, and around here…

...A Promise is a Pinky Promise!

PP: um, dis is not going to interrupt my presidential campaign, is it?

The very first cartoon …Bubba gets his cap!

Now, I know I said these were all going to be about Bubba, but losing his twin was a big part of the story back in August of 2015….

Mr Bun has a question, daddee.

Fortunately, Bubba proved to be strong and healthy and…um….a good eater.

He's small for now, but Bubba Bei Bei is shaping up to be a whole lot of panda!

And better than getting his name, there was the day that Bubba got his official Panda Chronicles outfit!!!

And let’s end with the day that Bubba broke the cute-o-meter!!!!

See? I told you it was broken!

Well, that’s all for now, except maybe a message from our sponsor, reminding you that you can have your very own Bubba Mug! Check out all the swell things here at the Pandyland Store of CafePress!

Isn't that just the cutest thing?

Be the bear! And have a fabulous furry Friday! I hope you had as much fun as I did revisiting the ‘toons!

As an extra bonus, here is Doxiemom’s video of Bubba and his mom, playing in the tub!

{sniff, sniff! quickly wiping tears off fur & handing Cee a tissue…} …the cap, Mr Bun’s question, oh…cwap (still wondering who taught him dat word!), more foo now!, splat – then run for frosting, “I look good, huh?” and other favorites

Wow, what a wonderful journey you have taken us on as we watched Bubba grow up.
Many thanks for brightening many a day with Bubba & Pinky’s antics! We luv U!

It’s so much fun for me to look back at the archive ‘toons! The tears and the cheers and all the frosting! Thank you for joining in the panda fun. It would not be nearly so much fun without you all!

You are so welcome. Playing with my imaginary pandas (wait….they aren’t real?) is second to all the panda fans I have met in real life. Thanks for being the bear. Have fun at Bubba and Pinky’s party! I bet it is going to be a blast!

I just love your take on Bubba and his relationship with Pinky. It has added a wonderful dimension to another great year of material for your fortunate followers!! Hopefully, Lun Lun’s recently announced pregnancy will come to a fruitful delivery, and the Meihem twinkies will also have a healthy baby sister or brother to torture . . . um, love.

You are so welcome. Sitting in my studio, making up stories about the pandas is about as much fun as a person can have and still be on the right side of the law. (Mostly)
I, of course, am hoping for another set of twins for Lun Lun. Somehow, I think being twins themselves, the Meihems are already used to sharing, and need I say, they aren’t Pinky. ??
Meanwhile work continues on Wu and Inspector Panda’s detective story. Stay tuned!

What a wonderful, Bubba-ful year it’s been! (Of course, it would have been so boring without Pinky.) I am still impressed by how beautifully you addressed the loss of Bubba’s twin, then went right back to the cute and funny. Thank you so much for all this joy. Can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Thank you for being here to cheer (some might say egg) me on! I had forgotten some of the early ones, so it was really a fun trip down memory lane for me too.
Looking forward to the next year and all the pandarificness there is to come! Everything is coming up pandas!

(I must remember to not chop onions while reading panda flashbacks.)
Oh, the memories of happy and sad times!
No matter how many times I see the ‘toon about Pinky asking Papa Tian if she was the cause of Mei losing the twin, I still get teary-eyed and get sad all over again.
I had (temporarily) forgotten how Bubba got his nickname “Boo Boo”. What fun that was!
“more foo!” – Best Bubba line ever!
    I can’t wait for Bubba’s next year’s adventures.

Oh those onions! How did they get in my studio?
Revisiting cartoons from a year ago brings back so many memories. It’s hard to believe I’ve done so many cartoons this year!
Stay tuned! More panda goodness is still to come!

Love the Chronicles and treated myself to a cup and panda bag today, but I have to say, as much as I love to watch the cubs grow up-it’s bittersweet. Thankfully, your toons make the laughs come and I realize that this is all a very special gift! Enjoy this little family as much and for as long as possible! TY♥️?

Thanks for your pandy purchase! You may be happy to know, that I am going to drag out Pinky, Bubba, and the Meihems shipdhood as long as I can. I suppose, like in real life, they will have to grow up and leave us, but it’s not happening any time soon. I’m hoping that they keep Pinky for the full 4 years. I do love that panda to pieces.
