Happiest of Happiness to you, dear Bob T. May this year be the best ever for you.

I was out yesterday in my local Barnes and Noble for the first time in many moons, and was stunned at the number of coloring books for those of us feigning adulthood. It just primed me for yours. Please consider what sort of coloring implements you might suggest and make a list for us. I so l-o-v-e writing implementx, school supplies and stationary stores. I look forward to having the opportunity to delude myelf that I am an artist. In the words of my 4th-grade teacher, the horrid (my words, not from Bob T. Panda, or the talented artist and creator of Catching Woozles, A.B.) Mrs.Patchell, “Candy, art, is just not your cup of tea.” I can’t use a needle and thread without piercing my fingers either, she would remind the class. As it turns out, it took motherhood to give me the opportunity to be diagnosed with dysgraphia. So, I want beautiful pencils, or something, because I may not be an artist; but I love learning and embrace new experiences. And I’m excellent at pretend.

I so wish I could post you a card or make you cuppycakes to honor you for your birthday! Thank you for all the joy you bring to me, and The PandaChronicleFandom (PCF). I am sending you wishes for a healthy year, a prosperous and successful year, and a year full of joy, content, great challenges and deeply satisfying experiences. These things, and so many other Blessings, I wish for you. I fervently wish all those aforementioned joys to be abundent to those you hold dear. Huzzah!!! ??????????☺❤???? Happy Birthday.

(Did you notice what letters 5 – 8 of my 4th-grade teacher”s name spelled? Pardon me while I wash my brain out with soap.)

Don’t get me started about people who tell kids “you aren’t really good at that, so don’t do it.” While I do believe people are good at different things, I believe there is so much to be gained by letting children try things and figure it out on their own whether they are good at it or if they enjoy it even if they are not. Not everyone is cut out to be a “career” artist, but those with just an average amount of talent can get enjoyment and even health benefits out of making art, music or dance.
I am working away on putting the coloring book together, and yes, I am including some suggestions for different materials to use, and even my favorite brand of colored pencils, which happens to be prismacolor. It is good to hear that coloring books have become such a “thing” in a recent FB discussion among some illustrators, they professed skepticism as to why this was a thing. But these are people who have accessed their creativity, and engage in it regularly. So you can ignore what they say about coloring books. I think they are cool, so they are. And pandas! I will let you know as soon as it is ready.

Happy Birthday, dear girl! You keep me happy with the antics of these very special bears. I fell in love with Bao Bao the first time I saw her. And since then, the pandas are with me. It is almost like the Panda Force is with us. Have a very special b-day. May the Panda Force be with you!

Thanks for your birthday wishes. I am so pleased that I bring laughter to so many people. Laughing is almost as good as having cake. Pandas saved me from despair, and I know they have saved many others too. Now if we can just save the pandas!
Thank you for reading The Panda Chronicles. Laughing (and pandas) are better when shared.

Very happy birthday, Anne, and many more cuppycakes to you! You have provided me with tons of laughs and joy. I’m glad you included one of my very favorites — Mr. B. Bear from Alaska who “allegedly” crashed a little kids’ birthday party just for the cuppycakes. This one makes me chuckle every time I see it. I love his birthday party hat.

Mr B Bear from Alaska says: nobody has proved yet that it was me on that skylight. There are lots of bears that wear party hats. It could have been anyone.

Glad you enjoyed the cake cartoons! Thank you for the birthday wishes! I plan to have cake and cuppycakes throughout my birthday season! Huzzah!

Thank you. See the previous discussion of the Birthday SEASON, which started when I was in college, and one of my friends remarked, “you don’t have a birthday. You have a birthday SEASON.” I have been refining, not to mention exploiting, the concept ever since then.

All artists hope that what they do touches someone’s heart and mind. I am so happy that Pinky and her friends provide that for you. I will keep on doing it as long as they are in my head, talking to me. who knows how long that will be? Life is unexpectedly short sometimes. Drawing pandas makes me happy, so I will keep on doing it. :o)
