Open Late Gate 3

Yes, I had promised to conclude our story about the change in the National Zoo opening times, but several things got in the way, like Bubba’s debut and whoever it was that broke the Cute-o-Meter.

And then there was Snomaggedon 2016 known on twidder as #Snozilla. The video of Tian Tian, the paterfamilias of the National Zoo Panda clan has been going wildly viral on the interwebs, which I know because at least 6 separate people either tagged me in the video or posted it on my FB page. My sympathy goes out to all of you who are stuck at home with nothing to do while the storm rages on outside, and the snow drifts reach your upper story windows, other than watch panda videos, curl up on the couch and read and eat microwave popcorn. You did remember to stock up on that, didn’t you?

So, without any further ado about nothing, here is the final episode of Open Late Gate

How many times do we have to tell you...Don't make pinky mad!!!!

How many times do we have to tell you…Don’t make pinky mad!!!!

What can we say?

Starting this week, we will be exploring the potential for pandas in the Pacific Northwest! Could it happen? We don’t know, but people who know people are talking about it. And by that, I mean, “people other than me!”

Chuck Todd, moderator of “Meet the Press,” semi-officially endorsed Pinky’s campaign this morning.

Well, what he actually said was, “Pandas for president!” after seeing the video of Tian Tian enjoying #snozilla.

But I strongly suspect that was code for #Vote4Pinky.

The mainstream media is taking notice.

That is very exciting, but are you sure he didn’t mean, “why not vote for Bob?” I can see how the two things could easily be confused. I am, of course, thrilled beyond measure that the mainstream media recognizes the superiority of pandas, above our current crop of clowns candidates.
I shall make note of this for further comment in a cartoon in the near future! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Panda Satire salutes you!

I hope Pinky does not feel upstaged by her exuberant father! You could not make up what he did in that video, and he did similar today, only this time with a stick of boo in his paw. If Pinky were smart, she’d get Tian Tian to stump for her campaign. By the way, Bubba is going to split his overalls if he gets any plumper.

Pinky knows that her daddee would never do anything to upset Pinky like run for president. I’m sure he is just trying to raise the profile of pandas so that everyone will vote for his daughter. He must have dropped his Vote for Pinky sign in all the excitement of rolling in the snow. Rumor has it that Chuck Todd on meet the press has endorsed pandas for president. Just saying.
Bubba had best cut down on the frosting intake. He will probably start getting taller soon, and redistributing all that…um….fluff.

That’s a splendid idea to write to the nefarious zoo director & complain about the loss of Pinky’s face time with her fans & supporters, but can the zoo director read ?? He sounds like a dumbbell to me !!?? Don’t understand his thinking !! Pinky 4 President !!

I just don’t know what he is thinking. I’m sure the other animals at the zoo (wait! There are animals other than pandas?) have their fans, but the panda fans are the most devoted regular visitors as far as I can tell. Well, when Pinky is president, she will change the hours back.

I think Bubba’s overalls are made of extremely stretchy material. A good thing too, as he does not seem to be able to resist frosting. Maybe he will turn some of that chubbiness to muscle, since he has started mountain climbing in his den.
