Is Tian Tian campaigning for Pinky?

The video of Tian Tian of the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC was all over the internet as well as television and newspapers a few weeks ago, as Tian Tian showed us just how much fun playing in the snow is. Well, it is if you’re a panda and don’t have to shovel your sidewalk and figure out how to get to work!

But the rest of us…well, at least the rest of you who live in places where snow shows up on a regular basis, we have a somewhat different relationship with the cold white stuff.

Meanwhile, Pinky seems to figured out how to turn Daddy’s fame into a plus for her presidential campaign…

Pinky never misses a trick!

Well, I did hear that the host of Meet the Press suggested that a panda should be president. Or maybe that’s just hearsay. And maybe it wasn’t Pinky, but a panda with …ahem…more experience that should be considered. I don’t know. But then again….

The results of the Giant Panda Global Awards have been announced and um…Pinky did not win the two categories she was nominated in. I am pretty sure there will be repercussions, especially since baby brother Bubba totally rocked the Cub of the Year category. This is not going to be well received. Stay tuned.

Pinky would make a great Presydent indeed!

Well, no matter what happens… Pinky wasn’t the only one who made friends with Secret Service that day 🙂 She was a heck of matchmaker, just sayin’! (I now feel confident saying that!)

      Oh do tell!
yes Pinky will be a force to be reckoned with! And maybe now you can keep a close eye on her. Um…if a panda with more experience doesn’t win, that is!

Well, a Secret Service guard asked me “What is the deal with the panda and the pig?” and eventually the conversation led to two dinners while I was in town and daily conversations since 🙂 Suffice to say, I am planning a return trip in the near future 🙂

The pig is my class mascot, Gary, who loves presidential history (https://www.facebook.com/Gary-the-Pig-165558370154282/?fref=ts) . I think Pinky hired him as her campaign manager or something. He tried running for president back in 2008 to show my students how campaigning works and now he’s devoted his energies to education. He wants to be Secretary of Education and he taught Pinky everything he knows about presidents (which is quite a lot, considering he’s traveled to quite a few presidential sites around the US). He also likes seeing presidential candidates and Pinky seemed to like him.

(And despite it all, USSS guy doesn’t seem to mind my crazy way of teaching the kids history or my love of pandas- he even went to see them with me. Takes a certain kind of guy to get that)

OOOO! That is BEARY cool! Glad you took him to meet the pandas, since he might be guarding a panda in the not too distant future. Sorry your pig didn’t win the election back in 08, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.
          Do keep us informed!

Doesn’t he though? He will do anything for Pinky (much to her mother’s dismay. She thinks he spoils her.)
