Here We Are! 2019…Is it any better yet?

Hmmm…not so that I can tell. There is a great essay by Anne Lamott, about not making pointless resolutions for the new year, like…um…losing weight. Pandas are gonna panda, am I right? And part of being pandy is…um…being pandy, so enough with that!

That said, I do like to make goals every year, primarily to focus myself on the work I want to accomplish during the year. I only occasionally look at my list once I’ve written it, but I find the act of writing things down, with a pen on paper, and sharing them with another artist friend of mine in our annual ritual, does help me keep on track. And when I do revisit the list, I find that I have done much of it.

Haven’t sat down to do my list yet, but here are some things that I want to put on it

Visit the San Diego Pandas. (plans are already in the making and execution)
Close down my Pandyland store on Cafe Press and get my one on RedBubble up and running
Compile and publish the next edition of the Panda Chronicles books. This will be Book 9!
Do a January “100 things” Kickstarter. I have an idea, & it involves panda stuff! More soon!
Paint and garden like a tornado
Get back to work on the manuscript/storyboards for books 3 & 4 of The Pandyland Mysteries,  my graphic novel series, as yet unpublished, but when it is, I am going to be so ready to keep it moving.

I’m also going to tweak the schedule here a bit…

New cartoons will post on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at a little later in the morning than I have been posting them. Encore presentations will appear on Sundays instead of Fridays. Other than than, everything will be exactly the same. (Except with maybe some indictments and more resignations from the Mittens WH) Pinky will still torment her brother; Bubba will still strain the seems of his overalls. mei xiang will despair of ever getting Pinky to behave, and Mehitabel will still rule from her heavenly post. You’ll get used to it.

But now, I think Mei Xiang finally has Pinky’s New Year’s resolutions compiled!

Bubba: my resolution was just to chew my food more, an’ mebbee not eat so much frosting.
Ping: ping!

Panda on!

Happy New Year! May your year be filled with calorie-free, but totally delicious cuppycakes! (And an impeached president.) Perhaps we could get a few cartoons when Ping returns home and tells his family about living with pandas in the US.

Um…you want Ping to go home? Dis! Will! Not! Stand!
But yeah…calorie free cuppycakes and an Impeached Mittens would be great!

Thank you, and will do! We are supposed to get another wind storm tonight. I really hope it does not knock out our power again. I need to read your email (again) and answer…hope Batty is doing okay. 🙁

Hope your wind storm wasn’t too bad and that you didn’t lose power again. It would be so hard keeping warm without power.
We’ve just survived a 45C (113F) day. The temperature is rapidly dropping now!
Batty is good. She’s been asleep for the day but will start to get more active as the weather cools.

Wind predictions were exaggerated (this time) and so I did not lose power again, thank goodness! I’m looking forward to the days getting longer and lighter. Frankly, there is not a whole lot of sunshine here right now. You must have it all down there. I don’t know how one manages a 113F day. I think I would have to get one of those kiddie pools and fill it with ice water, and lie in it for the duration.
Glad Batty is doing okay. This phase of life with our furry families is so hard. Coming up on the 2nd anniversary of Mehitabel’s departure. 🙁 I think she just didn’t want to live in the reign of terror of Individual 1. I’m glad she has consented to sticking around in the ‘toons. I would miss her even more than I do now.

I can just see you in the Aussie heat in a kiddie pool! Wally used to cool off in one of them. He would dive to the bottom then launch himself out. He looked like Fiona the hippo! There was one heat wave where the dogs had to wear cooling jackets all day and I was draped in dog cooling blankets. I never wanted to go through that again so I turned my lounge room into a vampire’s lair. This year I had electronic roller shutters installed on the windows so when it gets too hot I just click and watch the room descend into darkness. I also have air-conditioning in case any disturbing warmth tries to sneak in 🙂

I can’t believe it’s nearly two years since Mehitabel passed away. I can only imagine what she would think of the mess the orange menace has made in the kitty litter tray. She would not be amused. Thankfully we still get to see her in the Panda Chronicles. I always look forward to seeing her haloed head and cheeky smile.

having her still in the ‘toons keeps her in my heart and mind. I think she went right before or after the inauguration. (terrible I can’t remember the exact date anymore, just that it was late January.) I’m pretty sure she did not want to live under Individual 1’s reign of terror.
Hope you survive the summer heat. Glad you have a nice refuge to get away from the heat.

This cartoon redeemed my otherwise horrible day. Because of the shutdown, there is no panda cam for Bei Bei and the Zoo is closed. So I am relying on your cartoons and You Tube videos for my daily Bei Bei fix. I must have a daily Bei Bei fix to survive the regime of President Mittens.

I will make sure there is lots of Bubba in Sunday’s Super Sunday Panda Round-up. I hate that the zoo lovers and panda cam watchers are shut out because “president” Mittens decided he wanted to throw a hissy fit about his stupid wall. According to news sources (Chris Hayes) there would be so much litigation due to eminent domain takings from people in Texas, whose land would be taken to build the wall that it will never be built. Not that it would do all that much good if it was.
Whoa…I better get off that subject lest my head implodes! I will keep the pandas coming! Don’t forget you can dive into the archives (you’ll find it somewhere on the sidebar) in case you want to do a little panda binging! #BingePanda is now a thing!

“Aw…come on!” made me giggle a bit. But it’s pretty much how I react to anything the Moron says or does. As for the wall…I’d be totally for it if they built one around HIM with no door or windows.

Yes, that would be an awesome wall. They should build it around one of his golf courses with him in it.
