Where there are pandas, there is hope

We now return to our regularly scheduled pandas. I am so sorry to bring you the sad news of Mehitabel’s real life passing. It has taken the wind out of my sails. It is the first time in almost 21 years, without the sound of the pitter patter of little paws. I hope I will have another cat, just not yet.

In the meantime, her fictional counterpart is not going anywhere. Who would keep these pandas in line is she were gone? The show must go on!

Note: Mehitabel came to me in a dream last night, and wanted me to take note of the fact that FAR more people were commenting on the post about her, than they ever had on anything panda.

Really, I want to thank all who have written and offered their sincere and heartfelt condolences. I know many of you have walked this same path, and that we will again, because in the end, all you need is love, and to be loved by a cat (and let me tell you, they can be really particular about who they love) is the greatest gift of all.

it is the twins own Mr. Bun. The Imperial society of stuffy Bunnies makes sure that all who would be well served by having a Mr. Bun in their life, receives one. And yes, cuzzin Pinky sent them each a magical wand. More about that on sunday.

Sorry about your cat. We used to have lots of cats, but haven’t had any in a long time. I hear you about the love thing. We had one cat that would only give you love if you were in bed and the lights were off (so one would see she loved), we had one cat that only gave love if you were sitting on the toilet. We used to call it potty love LOL

Mehitabel was not a real love bug as a kitten, except when she was in the mood, but as she aged, she was more interested in lap time. Her favorite thing was when I would lie on the couch reading, and she would stretch out on me, and be a kitty blanket. I miss that the most.

I know it’s best to wait a little bit of time before getting a new cat, when the time is right you will know it in your heart. I didn’t want to get new ones when my two elderly cats passed. However, I ended up with two new adopted kittens that I spotted in an rescue center, they have brought soo much joy into my life. x

besides the healing heart time needed, there are some complications in my life, that preclude getting a new cat right away, even if I was inclined. And then there is the kitten vs. adult cat dilemma. Both have their difficulties. There is a great animal shelter a few hours from here, and when it is time, I may look there. Anyway, I want to take my time and not jump into something new right away.

They are a rather persnickety lot. Just one of the reasons I hate that Crazy Cat Lady moniker. I’m not crazy. Im pretty damn fantastic according to my cats. My dog? Meh. He loves anyone with a cookie in their hand.

      Ha! Dogs!
People who don’t know cats often think that they are not affectionate or devoted to their…um…servants. Mehitabel loved me, I know without a doubt. She was such a funny cat. she would follow me around the garden when I worked out there, and to the end of the driveway if I walked down there.

Oh my goodness! They’re too young to be corrupted by Pinky! Somebody please confiscate those evil wands now!
I wonder how soon a dreaded phone call will be made to Mei.

A cat that follows you everywhere is a very special friend indeed. I think my Muffy (Queen of all Kitties, you know) and Mehitabel would be best friends on the Rainbow Bridge, should they ever meet there. A lap cat while reading is an amazing, calming, wonderful thing. I am so glad you had that with M. When it comes to cats, we don’t pick our friends – they pick us. Somehow they just know. Much love to you.

Thank you. Truth to tell, this last year as I read of other folks’ cats heading across the bridge, I shuddered a little, as I know I would be facing this soon myself. Knowing that it was coming, it turns out, did not make it easier. The only thing I can say is I was not surprised. That’s not much, but it is something. I hope I will be ready when a cat chooses me again. For the time being, I am going to live with Mehitabel’s memory, not to mention…um…a bunch of stuffed pandas. Maybe one of my friends’ kitties will take pity on me and give me a head bump or two.

Oh how I LOVE this particular edition of “Your Brain on Pandas!!” To see Six and Seben is delightful, and now that they have wands, from Pinky, no less! after opening “pressies” and a Mr. Bun of their own..it was almost too much good in one day. I was smiling all day after seeing the episode. May I say “Huzzah!!!”….??

Well, we’ll see how long Mommee Lun Lun will let them keep their wands. Um…I think Pinky might get a piece of her mind as well. I’m sure they will each get to keep their Mr. Buns. Those are safe and even have a little magic of their own, to help protect cubbies from danger. Not that Pinky’s bunny could keep her out of trouble. A bunny can only do so much, you know?

well, I think she is trying to get some new loyal minions. She believes in the right to arm bears. (I can’t believe I used that joke.)
