There’s Something Happening Here…

...what it is ain’t exactly clear.…Things are happening very fast and I don’t think it is a good thing. When you are steering a ship of state, which is much bigger, than say, the Titanic, it seems like you would want to chart your course carefully, lest  you, ya know, run into an iceberg.  Not just barrel on ahead, because you like the sound of your own voice that much.

Heh.

Meanwhile, there is no such thing as an alternative fact, unless you are talking about speculative science fiction. Are we still allowed to use the word “science”? It’s good to remember that not everything is as it exactly appears in any particular snapshot (or screenshot!) But that doesn’t mean we should not pay attention. Or talk about what we’ve read or heard. Question everything, and let your representatives know how you feel, good and bad.

Our Future is at stake. Let’s treat it like it means something. Keep the conversation going.

Are all these paper clips mine?

Panda On!

Hi Bob T., I want to add myself to the #WepreferPINKY movement. What should I do?

Speak out and embrace goodness. And feel free to use the hashtags #WePreferPinky #NotMyPresident or #WeREndangered whenever you see fit. If HWMNBN chooses to take positive steps toward equal rights for all, protecting the environment, and creation of prosperity for the many, as opposed to lining the pockets of the few, we will certainly support that.
But at the very least, we thank you for being here and Pinky appreciates your support!

Might there be a new bumper sticker I might be missing? My “Vote for Pinky” bumper sticker is completely. O wish there might be a “Don’t blame me, I voted for (your Pinky) Perhaps it would be better not to insert pandas in the middle of this mess..but, I would love a new bumper sticker

I will definitely give a new bumper sticker some thought. I’ve had a bunch of personal types issues to deal with, re: my mom, which are taking up what ever extra (hahahahahahaha) time I had to design stuff. But it’s an excellent thought, and I’ll work on that. I’m afraid pandas have always been political, both mine, and those in the real world. China has something no one else has (pandas) and they are not afraid to use that to their advantage. It’s gonna get real “interesting” real soon.

I always figured we would need to learn Mandarin in the near future (which I would really prefer being the language of our beloved Panda’s homeland), but Russian was never even considered. Too bad we can’t release the Panda Kindergarten into the White House to straighten things out. And Pinky with her magical wand of course.

Pinky has been to the white house, so she knows her way around. The panda kindergarten would definitely be an improvement to the current occupants. Not that they will lower themselves to stay there.

What?! You mean to tell me that it wasn’t an awful nightmare that HWMNBN had won the presidency, that neither Bob nor Pinky won?! Oh my, what’s a good law-abiding citizen to do!
“And maybe the panda kindergarten has really reformed.” – LOL!!! Good one!

and here we thought the Cold War, Nixon and the Bush Bunch was bad … sometimes i’m glad i have a terminal disease and i hope it hurries the hell up and terminates!

I am sorry to hear about your terminal illness, and I have been trying very hard to keep from wishing the same for myself. Please know I am thinking about you and hope that you are not suffering pain or extreme discomfort. It is a sorry state of affairs when the picture looks so bleak that we wish this for ourselves. If you get to the great beyond, look for my sweet Mehitabel. It’s very hard not to think that we all may be in a terminal condition.

thank you PiC! i feel painful but not too terrible this morning and i am looking forward to visiting all the animals at the Rainbow Bridge. two of my own labs are there. i’m okay with a terminal condition, but i am tired and do hope i don’t have to deal with this plane crash of a whitehouse too much longer. i look at it this way, life is terminal anyway, i just have more of an idea of when (not counting accidents). in some ways, it’s actually kinda nice. don’t worry about me.

true, dat, about life itself being a terminal condition. I’m glad you are here for now and hope that panda satire makes life a little better. I appreciate your support.

Aw, gee. I wish this could be so, but see, here’s the thing. Real pandas are just as political as my fictional pandas are here.
Think for a minute about climate change: I just read an article about temperatures in the regions where bamboo grows and wild pandas play. As the temperature rises, the bamboo dies. They hope the bamboo can move on to higher elevations, with colder temperatures, but if there are no wildlife corridors for the pandas to travel, then, guess what happens next. Yeah.
and that’s just one issue that affects pandas directly.
And then there is the issue that if America pisses off China, they could decide to take all their pandas back, because, they belong to China.

So, it’s not so easy for me to just draw pandas being cute. I will be sad if you decide to go elsewhere for your panda entertainment, but as an artist, writer, and all around creative person, I have a job to do. If I can find some humor in what is coming down the pike, I will do my best to draw it out and put it in my cartoons.

I believe that what is happening now goes way beyond politics. HWMNBN and the minions of the right wing of the GOP are making decisions that will affect the entire world. If you believe that we are only stewards of the land we live on, and that we should leave breathable air, drinkable water for the next generation, we need to step up and act in any way we can. And that includes putting whats going on in the world, into my cartoons.

God knows I’d like things to be happy and fun again. I hope we live long enough for that to happen.

I understand, and I’ll never stop reading the cartoons. It’s just that with Pinky leaving 🙁 it would be nice to have some happy panda times before she goes.

I’ll try to put some happy times in too (like today and Sunday’s upcoming Year of the Rooster cartoon.) You can mostly (mostly) count on Friday re-runs being fun, as we harken back to more innocent times. Except for Pinky. She was never innocent.

Our pandas make it easier to take the politics we are having to endure. Yeah Pinky and the Panda Kindygarten!

I have always thought that humor made things more bearable (or pandable) Where would we be without the pandy kindy to get us through the day?
