Yes, that’s right! We are approaching 31 Days of Pandas, a Panda Chronicles tradition since…um..well, I can’t remember when I started it. As with recent years past, I have a bit too much on my plate to bring you a new ‘toon every day, but just think of it as Fabulous Furry Friday EVERYDAY!!!!
I’ll still be posting new ‘toons on Sunday and Wednesday, as per usual, but on other days, I will share some of my favorites from the archives, and I think many of them are appropriate to the season. And who knows. I may be able to pop out an extra new ‘toon to two here and there.
There are so many new readers who haven’t yet become inundated acquainted with all the characters and story lines, so this is a good chance for you to catch up! It’s also a good time to remind you that Panda Chronicles books make the best Holiday presents!
But without further ado, here is the introduction and first installment of our newest feature presentation, the worldwideintergalactic third house from the corner premiere of: 101 BeBe Panda-Nation!
Wait…who did you say is the star?
Bob T Panda
BTW, you may have been hearing all this stuff about Net Neutrality and how it might go away. WTF is that, you might ask? Net Neutrality helps to ensure that little guys (like me) have as much access to the cyber waves as folks like…say…Facebook. If you think a level playing field is a GOOD thing, consider dropping your representative in Congress and the chairman of the FCC a line and tell them so.
Hey kids! WE’re back with the next chapters of our beloved holiday classic The Wizard of Wu, brought to you courtesy of…well…ME!!! Join Wu, Mr. Toasty, and the mysterious panda who looks an awful lot like Wu’s older brother, not to mention Wu’s faithful companion, Binky the soccer ball!
Got yer popcorn? Don’t be scared, but the scary part is coming up NOW!!!
That cat is pure evil!
Sorry, no photo bomb from princess Pinky. her mother thought todays cartoon was too scary for her
Who would have thought cuppycakes could be enchanted?
Good witch Bee, the Bear, to the rescue!
Stay tuned later this month for the outtakes and blooper reel!
Holy Moly! It’s day 30 of 31 Days of Pandas! We are almost at the end as the ball in Times Square makes its descent into the unknown. We have lost so many treasured, talented individuals this year, and now we have to add yet another to the list (as if Gene Wilder, Carrie Fisher, and Alan Rickman weren’t loss enough!) Yes, the father and grandfather of so many pandas, particularly the US pandas, Pan Panpassed away yesterday at the age of 31. He was quite a bear with the ladies and fathered 30 cubs and has over 130 descendants. He was really da bear! Farewell, Pan Pan. You will shine brightly in panda heaven.
But now, the conclusion of the Twelve Days of CrispMoss! Are you ready to sing?
HOW many more days are there?
Oh no! Not again!
No WONDER I didn’t get any presents!
OOOOO! Pinky is a star!
On the twelfth day of Crisp-Moss, My Panda cam Did See….
I thought 2016 was going to be a great year, because at the beginning of the year, I started seeing news stories regarding the efforts of some Washington state businessmen and politicians having talks with China about bringing pandas to Washington state. Pandas HERE!!!! WOOZPPAH LIVES! So far, nothing has come of it, and we all know what a dumpster fire the year became.
But I am ever hopeful that You-Know-Who won’t completely screw up our relationship with China, which could instigate NOT getting pandas for Washington, and also losing the pandas we do have. You can see that I have a dog in this fight, right?
Anyway, here are some of my ‘toons from earlier this year, about WOOZPPAH! (WOOdlandpark ZooProjectPanda) (The “H” at the end is for a silent “Huzzah!” in case you were wondering where I got it.)
I bet Seattle Pandas would vote for Bob!
If only we could have just a couple of pandas….
let me call you sweetheart…
And we are counting down the days…. Join us tomorrow for the rest of The Twelve days of CrispMoss. Here’s the link to the first part, so you can warm up your vocal chords.
We have what…3 more days of 2016? Can you wait to say Buh-BYE to 2016 and welcome (and I use the term loosely) 2017 into being? Not that I think 2017 is going to be all that much better, only that 2016 will be OVER! So, here is something to cheer you up: a short video of Canadian Panda Daddy Da Mao (I bet you thought I was gonna say Justin Trudeau) engaging in a little performance art. Who says Pandas aren’t creative?
Meanwhile, here is today’s brand new ‘toon!
To be honest, 2016 wasn’t a totally sad year…I had a great experience in the Nevada SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) Mentor program, where I worked with my brilliant mentor who is now my brilliant agent, (am I sucking up? why yes, I am!), I spoke at the 2016 Pandamonium Convention in beautiful sunny San Diego, and got to see panda-daddy extraordinaire Gao Gao, maybe for the last time, as he is now living in retirement due to age related health problems.
I participated in several art exhibitions, and have not fallen down and hurt myself (which is good, especially if He Who Must Not Be Named cuts off my health insurance in the months to come) and Mehitabel is still alive, if not exactly lively. Hey, I just read about a cat who is 31, so quit your whining, Mr. Kitty! You’re a spring chicken.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for more Year in Review ‘toons, and then on Friday for the conclusion of The Twelve Days of CrispMoss! I am here for YOU!
We are grinding down to the very last days of the year, and what better thing to do than to review some of my favorite ‘toons from the past 12 months? Also I have run out of Mini Bob travel photos, so there is that too!
One of the things that happened this last year was I got an agent! Huzzah! Right now he is working on getting my graphic novel (about pandas, of course) out into the world. One of the things I am learning, is that publishing is a long process, but when you have someone who loves your story, you have a better chance that the right home will be found for it. Pseudo thumbs crossed. You’ll be the first to know when that happens.
Here’s my ‘toon about finding my agent…
Do you smell smoke?
I like to listen to the radio to find ideas for ‘toons. Here’s one about a new study on “healthy eating.” It was a study. It must be true.
Inspired by a TRUE story!
And here is another story about an important scientific finding...No fake news stories here!
Well, it is kind of funny, isn’t it?
Ha ha! This still makes me laugh! Tune in tomorrow for another brand new ‘toon!
Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! And Happy Hanukkah! And Festivus! don’t forget Festivus! 31 Days of Pandas does NOT take a day off! no, no no! Ho ho ho! Well, that’s life in the fast lane, right? I’m sure someone will throw me a crust of pumpkin pie or something. There was something on my windshield the other day….it might have been stuffing. I don’t know. Whatever.
But enough whining around the Hanukkah bush because there is not a BMW in the driveway with a bow on it! let’s have a ‘toon!
Who didn’t have a sibling like Pinky?
And in the interests of cross cultural representation….
Today, you are a bear.
…if I were a panda, yadda dah dah da- da- da- AAARGH! I can’t stop!!!!!
Have a happy day, no matter what, if any, holiday you celebrate…and pass some pie this way, and maybe some of those little frosted cookies…
Oh my goodness! It is actually Christmas eve. Not just Christmas Eve, Eve, but the real deal! Christmas Eve! And it is also the first day of Hanukkah! Yay! presents for eight days! What could be better? And…ahem…it is day 24 of 31 Days of Pandas, and tomorrow, there will be a brand new ‘toon, just for you, because…um…I am sooooo awesome! So, here are some holiday favorites just because y’all are da bears!
It’s beginning to look a lot like CrispMoss!
Even more poignant this year…
Consider this my Werld Peez Pandifesto… Even a year ago I was worried.
Gift suggestions for the panda in your life! and you can print these out and play with them while you are having your coffee and cinnamon rolls in your jammies!
Just the thing for a cozy evening at home with mom and the panda cam!
Inspired by one of Pinky’s favorite artworks, a sculpture by Edgar Degas, which seems to be in every art museum on the east coast.
Princess Pinky and her very first tutu, gifted to her by her big brother Tai Shan!
I think it is time for that OTHER holiday classic, The Twelve Days of CrispMoss! Huzzah! Now a 31 Days of Pandas classic! Feel free to sing along! (We”l have the second part next Friday, for Christmas Eve Eve!)
Is everybody ready?
feel free to sing along.
I can’t hear anyone singing…..
I swear, I had nothing to do with Pinky’s let night sit in.
four pandas sneaking…
…and a Pinky in a Hemlock tree!
Bob T Panda!
A big pandy thanks to all who have bought books this month! Um..don’t stop now, just when it’s getting good!
And don’t forget to have your holiday mug filled with hot cocoa and those little tiny marshie-mallows!
