Is Our National Nightmare Over Yet?

I have…um…stepped away from the computer for a few weeks to have a confab with my panda cousins in China. (More about that later.) I’m pretty sure that it is safe to assume that there has been a  national nightmare or three in my absence.

Over the past 10 months I’ve done a lot of pondering, and one of the questions that I have been pondering is this: If the internet with such plentiful and easy access to information, had existed in the 1930’s would Hitler have come to power, so easily? I started asking myself that on November 9th, thinking that surely, with everything happening in full view, surely democracy could not be overturned so easily.

It appears I was wrong. Our national nightmare is in full tilt chaos, despite (or maybe because) so much unfiltered and unverified information  zipping around the airwaves.

I don’t know what to do, besides draw more pandas.

national nightmare

When, oh when, will this be over?

I’m really hoping that I’ll wake up soon.

Really

Panda On,

The national nightmare or three in your absence is vastly understating it, unless your absence was only for five minutes. Hope you managed to have a good time regardless of it all.

I did manage to have a good time, despite the national nightmare. Am I disappointed “he” is still here? You bet. Did I really expect it would be all over? Um…not really, but a bear can dream, can’t she?

Seeing Pinky in the fur (and up close and personal, no less) made it a wonderful trip. I’ll get started sorting photos today and starting to add the posts I wrote on the word to my blog page for the trip, as well as adding more insights and observations. Stay tuned!

I am so glad you made it back safe. Hope the cold is better… Did Ping Ping talk to you? He is so adorable, as are they all. Sadly our national nightmare continues with threats of war being bandied back and forth between two insane men. Your humor and honesty are so appreciated.

I had a long, squeaky conversation with Ping Ping. His nanny says he is the most gentle panda, and he was very talkative, so, I had a little conversation with him. He is most adorable, and I did want to bring him back with me.
My cold is abating, but the jet lag lives on. I’m not sure how long it takes to readjust from a 15 hour time change. It wasn’t so bad on the way there. I did wake up at odd times during the night the first week, but could always stay awake all day. I’ve been having mid afternoon nap attacks for several hours, but still seem to be able to sleep 6-7 hours overnight. Hard to know how much is jet lag and how much is me trying to fight my cold. A little extra sleep is not a bad thing.
Working on my photos now. I got some very cool ones from my early morning walk in Ya’an. I definitely needed more “me” time to draw and take photos, something that is hard to come by when you are traveling with a group this way.

I know…right? I know I didn’t REALLY think things would have sorted themselves out by my return, but sheesh!!!!
