An interlude with ice cream

Oh… the world has been too much with us lately. So many bad things happening in so many places. All I want to do is crawl under the covers, binge watch entire seasons of The Gilmore Girls (how did I not know of this show’s existence before???) and eat a really big bowl of ice cream. What we need now, more than ever, are pandas being pandas.

For those of you who are fans of watching the actual pandas via the panda cam at the Smithsonian National Zoo, you know that the grown up pandas daily get a treat of frozen fruit juice with fruit and carrots and other vegetables frozen into them. Mei Xinag is well known for not sharing her treats (and you wonder where Pinky learned the “no sharing” thing? It was Mom, all the way,) and not only does she not share her treats, she will steal the treats of any panda cub under her control.

Well, two can play at that game.

What goes around, comes around...

What goes around, comes around…

What? Pinky using her brother to do her dirty work? Oh…um…well, he just wants to be helpful. Althoguh this time, he may not bow to superior Pinky.

Oh my gosh-this made me laugh out load! So perfect! Sometimes I feel like Mei with food around my two malamutes and husband!

I love Mei’s face when she looks around. Bubba’s terrified face is extraordinary. That ice cream looks so delicious – especially with the cream and cherry.
I must confess that when I was young we were in a cafe and near us was a man eating an ice cream sundae. I can’t believe I did this but I went over and took the cherry from the top. Everyone was stunned and didn’t know what to do. I ate the cherry and went back to my chair. Oh well, a panda has to eat what a panda has to eat. I’m more polite now. I’d say thank you after taking the cherry 🙂

I am still laughing from your story of youthful cherry thievery! I can just see all the grown ups sitting around in stunned silence. I knew we were twins separated at birth. I am particularly fond of those cherries myself, and now that we have instituted the tradition of grown-up beverages on the weekend, I always have 2 cherries in my manhattan.

Bubba was..um…just practicing his acting skills. Don’t tell mommee, ‘kay?

Someone posted a photo of Bei Bei sleeping in his den and commented on how large his paws are. Word is he is gonna be a biiiig boy…bigger than daddy and Pan Pan. Obviously, based on the drawings, Bob T. Panda has known this all along. Has Mei tried the new Caramel Cone flavor of Haagen-Daz?

Bubba is definitely going to be a big boy. I haven’t seen any comparisons lately, but at 1, 3, and 5 months, compared to both Tai and Pinky, Bubba has been larger than all of them. Will be interesting to see just how big he gets as a grown up. His ‘toon self has been packing on the poundage as well. Good thing Mei started buying those stretchy cubberalls.
Carmel Cone Haagen Daz? I think she just sent Tian Tian to the store for some. I’m sure she’ll love the new flavor.

    BEST. ‘TOON. EVER!!!
Every little and big thing about today’s ‘toon made me smile, laugh, and even snort. I especially loved Bubba’s ‘scared’ and elated faces. Hmm, I wonder if he’ll end up with a brain freeze after eating that big bowl of ice cream.
Thank you for making my day.

So glad you liked it. I’ve been watching mama Mei steal Bubba’s apples, and fending him off from her frooties. I really needed to draw something completely fun and light to take my mind off of “things.”
Um…I may get into a little rant on that on Friday.
