Busing for Beavers

What else could you call relocation of 76 beavers in Idaho in 1948, except busing for beavers? We recently heard this story, which came courtesy of the Boise, Idaho NPR station. The funniest things are occasionally true, true things are often funny. (At least we think they are.)

Of course, The Institute for Contemporary Panda Satire couldn’t sleep until we commented on this exciting bit of history.

And leave it to the vivd imagination of the panda kindergarten, to see a parallel between the 1948 Beaver Air-Drop and a possible solution to the current rat problem that new York City is facing.

Uh oh! It's the panda kindergarten and they have a plan!

Over here Mr. Kitty! We have a surprise for you!

Be the Bear,
Bob T. Panda

As I suggested in a Facebook post within the past few days regarding the frightening of the feline population with fruitcucumbers, don’t tell Pinky. As in don’t tell Pinky, or any member of the Panda Kindergarten, anything they can use to get into mischief; especially if it pertains to the welfare of Mehitabel. In reflection, I always think of Mehitabel as a female cat, but the Pandy Kindy does politely use the formal title of mister. Hmm…, Pinky… please leave my kitties and my fruitcucumbers in separate locations please.

Mehitabel is indeed a female kitty, which is only one of the many reasons that she finds the panda kindergarten addressing her as “Mr Kitty” is so insulting, not to mention galling and infuriating. I certainly hope that the kindy did NOT see those films using cucumbers to scare cats. That would be really terrible if they were to do something like that.
      For instance…

Sometimes Bob T Panda gets marvelous ideas & how happy he must be to know that the Panda Kindergarden is always ready to back him up & don’t favor Pinky over him altho sometimes it might seem that way cuz Pinky is just full of interesting & exciting ideas !!

It is best not to take the enthusiasm of the pandy kindy to much to heart, at least in terms of shows of support for poor Bob. They will pretty much be enthusiastic about any idea that allows them to …um…misbehave. Especially if it means they can do something to Mehitabel.

“The Department of Moving Animals Around” seems to exist all over the world from African elephants moved between counties to our precious pandas moved from China to other countries just to have cubs which are then sent back to China. I’m still chuckling over this hilarious “Department.” Nobody ever asks these animals if they want to move though. Poor Geronimo, the beaver, got so confused by being experimented with that he didn’t know what to do when he was finally released to his final home.

Alas, poor Geronimo…it is hard to be moved around with no say. I bet if pandas could talk, they would all want to move to Seattle. But maybe I am…um…showing favoritism to my home city. I think the pandas enjoy being rock stars when they get a prestigious zoo appointment, but perhaps I am anthropomorphizing a bit.

Bob is much too enthusiastic over the thought of a “cat airdrop”! And those little panda kindergarten trouble-makers, holding up the carrier to Mehitabel, need to be dropped on their furry bottoms a few times. ANY animal drop is cruel & should be banned!

Especially that mess, called the “New Year Possum Drop”, in Brasstown, NC. While last year the use of a live possum was banned, it is unclear whether the sickos promoting this will try to continue with a live possum this year!

I had not heard of the Possum Drop. I agree. This will not stand!
I am pretty sure Mehitabel will escape the clutches of the Pandy Kindy. She usually does. I just like to see her tail get all fluffy, and after giving me a pink crayon the other day, well…alls fair and all that.

Da “Possum Drop” seems to be a yearly tradition in some small Southern towns, Brasstown being the most famous. Guess they can’t afford “The Philly Mummers”, but interestingly part of da tradition in Brasstown is to crown a man, dressed in drag, as “Ms. Possum”!

        Here are the gory details:

One day I’ll explain my relationship with possums and how me and my possum friends were involved in a “possum drop” protest!

Believe Matty can take care of herself and put da Pandy Kindy in dere place! Never mess wit us when our tails get all Fluffy! BTW: What’s wrong wit a pink crayon?

Glad that you are out there, fighting the good fight, to keep possums, beavers and cats from being dropped out of airplanes against their will! You are right about not messing with cats when their tails get fluffy!
I am picturing you and a bunch of possums walking down the street with signs and chanting.
And as to the pink crayon. well. Do I really have to explain?

The Department of Moving Animals Around – too funny!
Love Bob’s expression when he comes up with his plan. It’s matched only by Mehitabel’s angry one in adorableness. A shiver goes done my spine every time I hear the panda kindergarten call “oh mr kitty!”
