Attention Must Be Paid

Attention must be paid…to Pinky’s mommee, if no one else. Watch as Pinky plays a round of Evade the Question!  (Thank you Jasper Fforde!) ( I excelled at this game as a teenager.)

Cause and effects are very complicated concepts for baby pandas, don't you think?

But don’t try to pin this on your minions, Pinky. You are going to need them later when you…um…make your big announcement. Every politician needs some minions who are willing to do their bidding, don’t you think?

Maybe no one will be able to trace the outage back to the panda house.

Maybe.

Be the Bear,
Bob T Panda

My Inner Panda is delighted to report that I noticed last week that one of the Tiny Triplets has long eyelashes. My grad school cohort would attack me for making the hetero normative assumptions that I have identified the female in the bunch. I also suspect she will first identify with the Princess, who will welcome another female to befuddle the Meihem2. The mystery really is, will the alliance stick, or will it revert back with her Brothers and the Minions3 become the Terrible/Terrific Triplets?

It doesntt matter. I am happy I noticed the eyelashes early last week. I expect She will soon acquire a girlish bow. Like her mentor the Princess Pinky, this Little Panda Girl is no Wallflower.

Your grad school cohort would probably admonish me for drawing all the girl pandas with long eyelashes, but honestly, it is one of the only ways to tell them apart. Mea culpa! I’m sure Minyon #1 will soon sport a ribbon or some other girly acoutremonte!

Well, now that Pinky has had her first painting sell for $3600 (estimated “value” set by the Smithsonian was $3000) she has proved that she is not subject to the rules that apply to the rest of us! OK, it was for charity, so I suppose whoever bought it kept that in mind. I wonder if there would be interest in a set of paw prints my late cat Sarah made when she stepped into an inkpad and then walked over the NY Times business section in March of 2007? Given that Sarah passed 5 years ago, wouldn’t that make her work more valuable?

Pinky has never been subject to the rules of the rest of us. Thank you for alerting me to the sale price of her first painting. (Gnashing of teeth now commencing) i fear she will be unstoppable now.

Her first paw-print DID go for over $10K last year. I just visited with her Royal Highness, Princess Pinky… and let me tell you, this girl knows she is beyond adorable and has a long line of human subjects willing to do her bidding (and bidding on her cuteness)

Oh, geez… Is this the definition of a diva celebrity or what? Her paw-to-graph going for over 10K? I hope no one told her about that.

The way she shows off her feetsies when people coo at how cute she is makes me think she already knows! Every move she makes is accompanied by a chorus of “Aww!” and “How CUTE!!”

I’m quite sure that “Actual Bao Bao”, not unlike her fictional counterpart Princess Pinky, knows EXACTLY how cute she is, and how to elicit all those ooos and aaaaahs! of cute-osity. The manipulative little darlings have our number and we are powerless to resist.
I too, have had the pleasure of seeing her in “the fur,” and she is all that and more. She has us wrapped around her little paws and we are willing supplicants.

I was wondering if you intend on Pinky Getting a Phone call from Big Brother or at least including him and wouldn’t be wonderful material if Mei is in fact with cub could you just see Pinky Complain and Moan and plan

Yes, I think a phone call from big brother is just the ticket. He did make a cameo appearance in the story about Mr Wu and the airplane. (See: Book of Wu) but as I began watching and chronicling pandas after Tai Shan moved to China, I don’t have a direct connection with him, so he rarely appears. It was he who sent Pinky her tutu and her magical wand. I believe they skype regularly.

Pinky is a very cunningly intellectual little panda, isn’t she? Thanks for the comment on facial expressions. I am really having fun with that now.
